‘The Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond’s St. Patrick’s Day Menu Includes a Boozy Breakfast
The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond loves St. Patrick’s Day so much that she has a complete menu for the holiday. The Food Network star has thought of everything from traditional meals to creative sweet treats. She even suggests starting the day with a boozy breakfast.
‘The Pioneer Woman’ has a delicious take on an Irish-American classic
Corned Beef and Cabbage is a St. Patrick’s Day tradition, and Drummond’s recipe doesn’t disappoint. The tender meat and tangy cabbage shine in this Irish-American classic, thanks to an amazing balsamic reduction.
You’ll need a three to four-pound package of corned beef brisket and three tablespoons of ground black pepper. To make the cabbage, you’ll need one head of green cabbage, olive oil, kosher salt, and black pepper, and a half bottle of Guinness. Finally, for the balsamic reduction, you’ll need a cup of balsamic vinegar and two tablespoons of sugar.
Ree Drummond has a few ideas for St. Patrick’s Day treats
The Pioneer Woman’s Holiday Bark features green M&M’s and pistachios to customize it for St. Patty’s Day. Other ingredients include white almond bark, graham crackers, pretzel sticks, mini chocolate chips, and Oreos.
For St. Patrick’s Day Marshmallow Pops, you’ll need a package of almond bark, chopped nuts, chopped pretzels, and green sprinkles. Don’t forget the lollipop sticks, which you can find at a craft store.
Drummond also has a recipe for homemade Shamrock Shakes that includes vanilla bean ice cream, whole milk, mint extract, vanilla extract, and whipped cream.
‘The Pioneer Woman’ has a blissful recipe for Irish Grilled Cheese
A delicious lunch idea for the holiday is an Irish Grilled Cheese. Made with Irish cheddar, rye bread, butter, and Irish mustard, all you need is 15 minutes and a skillet to make this yummy goodness.
For a variation, you can use pumpernickel bread or pumpernickel-rye swirl bread. You can also add tomato slices to the sandwich or serve with small pickles.
How about a delectable coffee cocktail?
An Irish Coffee is delicious everyday, but there’s something special about enjoying one or two on St. Patrick’s Day. Drummond’s take on Irish Coffee features five ingredients: heavy cream, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Irish Whiskey, brown sugar, and strong hot coffee. You’ll need an electric mixer to make the whipped cream.
For dinner, Drummond suggests a Sunday Night Stew. Technically, this isn’t a classic Irish Stew. But, all you need to do is swap out the beef for lamb to make it a little more traditional. This yummy, thick stew is best when served with Drummond’s homemade mashed potatoes.
‘The Pioneer Woman’ has a crazy idea for a St. Patrick’s Day boozy breakfast
Drummond calls her St. Patrick’s Day breakfast idea the “craziest thing” on her holiday menu. However, just because it’s weird doesn’t mean it isn’t wonderful. The Pioneer Woman’s boozy breakfast idea is a Guinness Float!
All you need is a chilled bottle of Guinness Stout and two cups of vanilla ice cream. Divide the ice cream into two frosted mugs, then slowly pour the Guinness over the top of each one. Don’t pour too fast because it will fizz and bubble. The last step is to top it with freshly whipped cream.
This recipe is actually quite flexible because you don’t have to use Guinness. You can use any variety of beer that you want. The same goes for the ice cream. Vanilla isn’t a requirement. Instead, you can use chocolate, cinnamon, or coffee flavor.
Whatever your favorite ice cream is, chances are it will work. No matter which flavor you choose, Drummond’s Guinness Floats promise you a boozy breakfast!
