RHOBH newbie Garcelle Beauvais is joining The Real. The actor makes the third new co-host since the show’s premiere in 2013. Beauvais joining the round table comes amid Tamera Mowry-Housely and Amanda Seales exiting the series this year. Some fans of the show do not think Beauvais fits in with the current hosts.

Garcelle Beauvais is replacing Tamera Mowry-Housely on ‘The Real’; Amanda Seales’ spot remains open

Mowry-Housely and Seales’ exit came just months apart. Seales says her decision came as a result of her not agreeing with the direction of the show amid protests across the country against racial injustice and police brutality. She accuses show producers of censorship and claims the culture behind the scenes is toxic.

Despite being on the show since season 1, Mowry-Housely is leaving the show to focus on other opportunities. In addition to having two young children, Mowry-Housely owns and operates a winery with her husband. She’s also returning to acting full time, with a new television movie to air this winter.

In the absence of Mowry-Housley and Seales, Beauvais is joining the round table for season 7. In a statement to Variety, Beauvais expresses her excitement, saying:

“I am thrilled to be joining the dynamic, bold and diverse women on the award-winning talk show ‘The Real,’” Beauvais said. “My love for pop culture and news, blended with my natural gift of gab, has always made me gravitate toward a talk show environment. It’s also exciting that it’s happening right after my amazing time joining ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.’”

Her new gig on The Real comes with more career comebacks for the veteran actor and model. She made history when she joined season 10 of RHOBH as the first African American housewife on the franchise. Her acting career has also seen a resurgence, with a guest role on the final season of Power, as well as a role in the upcoming sequel Coming to America 2.

Some fans are not happy with Garcelle Beauvais as new co-host on ‘The Real’

Loni Love is congratulating Beauvais on joining the show, tweeting to her new co-host, “Welcome to the family @GarcelleB!!!!!!” Love also joked, “I got my wigs, we got a new cohost, I just need to check my WiFi then we got a Season Seven,” making light of the fact that the show returns virtually this fall.

While Love is excited about Beauvais joining, fans of the show are not. One Twitter user is surprised at the addition.

Some believe Beauvais is not a good fit, citing her age and her lengthy career as reasons. Many believe Beauvais is too good for the show, with one Instagram user hinting that the other co-hosts appear sophomoric.

“Definitely too seasoned for that group of women but I guess,” one wrote under the comment section of The Shade Room’s post.

“I think they should have went [sic] younger,” another Instagram user says.

“What demographic is she catering too,” another Instagram user chimes in.

Others say there were better choices. There are rumors that other actors, including Keke Palmer and Tisha Campbell, were considered for the spot.

“Nothing against Fancy but they could have gotten someone better,” one writes on Instagram.

The Real returns September 21 for its seventh season.
