The Real Reason Wilmer Valderrama’s Sudden Engagement to Amanda Pacheco Has Demi Lovato Fans Heated

Wilmer Valderrama is officially an engaged man!

The That’s 70’s Show alum kicked the new year off on the right foot by popping the question to his girlfriend, Amanda Pacheco, after less than a year of dating.

While many people couldn’t be happier for the couple, others are actually bashing Valderrama due to the fact that he was so quick to propose to Pacheco but never asked for Demi Lovato’s hand in marriage during their six-year romance.

Valderrama and Pacheco have only been dating for eight months

Valderrama is ready to start his life with Pacheco by his side.

The NCIS star proposed to the 28-year-old model on the beach in San Diego on January 1 and later shared their special moment on his Instagram.

“‘It’s just us now’ 01-01-2020,” Valderrama captioned a photo of him on bended knee.

Shortly after Valderrama shared the post, Pacheco uploaded the same photo on her Instagram account but also included an up-close snapshot of her beautiful pear-shaped diamond ring.

The couple’s heartwarming engagement comes a little more than eight months after they were first spotted together in Los Angeles. In May 2019, a source told Us Weekly that the two were “casually dating.”

Three years before Valderrama started dating Pacheco, he was in a long-term relationship with singer Demi Lovato.

The former flames began dating in 2010 after crossing paths during a charity event. Shortly after that, Valderrama and Lovato made their love official and stayed together for six years until they decided to call it quits in 2016.

Though their split took many people by surprise, the pair remained close friends following their breakup. The actor even stood by Lovato’s side after her near-fatal drug overdose in July 2018.

While the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer has yet to comment on her ex’s recent engagement, Us Weekly previously shared that she is very happy for Valderrama and fully supports his new relationship.

“Demi knows about [Amanda] and is being equally as supportive as Wilmer has been of her recent relationships,” an insider explained at the time. “Wilmer is still wrapped up in Demi and that’s why they’ve always been so off and on and have continued their friendship as well as Wilmer’s relationship with Demi’s family.”

Fans are upset that Valderrama never proposed to Lovato

While it wouldn’t be too off-putting to assume that Lovato is supportive of her ex’s recent engagement, her fans are actually livid that Valderrama will soon be tying the knot with Pacheco.

It turns out that “Dilmer” shippers are pretty upset that the actor proposed to his girlfriend of eight months and never even popped the question to Lovato during their six-year relationship.

Since announcing his engagement, Lovatics have been taking to Twitter to share a few choice words surrounding Valderrama’s engagement and let’s just say, they didn’t hold back in the slightest.

“Trying my best to understand Wilmer but Demi didn’t write Yes for him for nothing. She is just WAITING for a proposal,” one fan tweeted.

“Demi and wilmer dated for 6 years and dude did not put a ring on it, he’s been dating this chick for like a year and boom, engaged. time clearly means nothing,” another user expressed.

“I just hope Demi is okay. She loved that man, deeply. They were even living together and had a dog. All that was left for Wilmer to do was to put a ring on it. Six years,” some else shared.

As Valderrama continues to be faced with backlash, some fans are actually coming to his defense in this situation by slamming Dilmer fans.

“I’m sorry, but some Demi Stans are being extremely immature rn over the news. It’s 2020 grow up and just be happy that someone found some happiness,” one person tweeted.

Although Valderrama never proposed to Lovato, they still had an amazing relationship and established a special connection that they continue have to this day.

Both of them have since moved on with their lives and many of us are very happy that the actor has found love again.

While Lovato is still searching for her one true love, it will only be a matter of time before she, too, finds her happily ever after.
