‘The Real World: New Orleans’ Cast to Reunite for ‘Homecoming’ Season 3
Another Real World reunion is in the works. The ninth-season cast of the MTV reality series – which was set in New Orleans – will be coming together for the third season of The Real World Homecoming on Paramount+.
Paramount+ skips ahead for the next ‘Real World’ reunion
The first season of The Real World Homecoming premiered in March 2021 and reunited cast members from the groundbreaking reality show’s debut season. Housemates Becky Blasband, Andre Comeau, Heather B. Gardner, Julie Gentry, Norman Korpi, and Kevin Powell returned to the same New York City loft they shared in 1992 to hash out old drama and reflect on their experience on the show. (Original cast member Eric Nies had to participate virtually because of a positive COVID-19 test.)
Homecoming’s second season brought together The Real World Season 2’s Los Angeles cast. It seemed that The Real World: San Francisco cast was next in line for a reunion. However, instead of revisiting that memorable season (whose participants included OG reality TV villain David “Puck” Rainey), the show is skipping ahead to season 9.
Seven original ‘Real World: New Orleans’ cast members on board for the reunion
All seven original Real World: New Orleans cast members have signed on for the Paramount+ reunion, including David “Tokyo” Broom, Melissa Howard (now Melissa Beck), Jamie Murray, Danny Roberts, Matt Smith, Julie Stoffer, and Kelley Wolf.
Paramount+ hasn’t announced a premiere date for The Real World Homecoming Season 3. However, the original season of The Real World: New Orleans will be available to stream on Paramount+ beginning in April.
Some fans are upset that reunions aren’t happening for other seasons
Real World fans reacted to the news of the New Orleans cast reunion on Instagram. While many were excited to revisit the show’s ninth season, others expressed disappointment that Homecoming was skipping over earlier seasons.
“What about San Francisco?” one asked.
“How do you skip San Francisco, Miami, Boston, Seattle??!!! Make it make sense…” another wrote.
Several people speculated that original cast members from the earlier seasons may have declined to participate in Homecoming.
Teck Holmes from The Real World: Hawaii, which aired in 1999, confirmed during an appearance on The Challenge Fandom Podcast that his season’s cast had been offered a chance to do Homecoming. But not everyone was on board, much to Holmes’ disappointment.
“Let me just say this, f*** my cast from The Real World,” he said.
“I love my cast, the Hawaii cast. But we were offered a Homecoming and we can’t get together … we had the ball rolling and it just broke down,” he added, explaining that some people from his season just weren’t willing to participate. “I don’t know what happened. Right now, I’m not the happiest camper. I don’t understand what the holdup is.”
“To me, it’s never been about any money … We owe the people,” he said, adding, “We owe the fans … we are pop culture icons.”
