CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks is back in The Recruit Season 2. Noah Centineo reprises his role as the agency newbie who always seems to find himself in the field instead of behind a desk. When does The Recruit Season 2 premiere? Get the answer, plus details about new episodes of the Netflix original series, ahead.
When does ‘The Recruit’ Season 2 premiere?
It won’t be long until new episodes of The Recruit begin streaming. The Recruit Season 2 premieres on Jan. 30, 2025, with all six episodes—likely with lots of acronyms in their names— hitting Netflix. (A friendly reminder: make sure the weekend’s open to binge-watch the entire season.)
Filmed in Vancouver, Canada, and Seoul, South Korea, the latest installment of the spy series takes CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks to new places as he tries to untangle a complicated web of deceit.
Filming The Recruit in South Korea allowed Centineo to make an appearance in XO, Kitty Season 2 as his To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before character, Peter Kavinsky, Netflix’s spin-off of the rom-com trilogy.
What is ‘The Recruit’ Season 2 about?
Season 2 of The Recruit picks up right where last season left off after that big ending. “Owen’s headspace is complete chaos,” Centineo told Tudum. “He has just witnessed Max (Laura Haddock)—the former CIA asset whom he almost died multiple times trying to protect—get shot by her daughter Nichka (Maddie Hasson). Owen is wondering how in the hell he is going to survive the next few seconds of his life.”
Soon, the CIA lawyer finds himself in South Korea with South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent Jang Kyun played by Love to Hate You’s Teo Yoo. Owen is, according to creator Alexi Hawley, quickly “in the deep end.” He tries to get answers only to realize things might be way more complicated than expected.
The stakes are higher this time around. “Owen rolls into this season basically screwed,” Hawley said. “Owen knows that if he does not walk away with a win this season, his career is going to be over. He might go to prison.”

Remember the tidbits about Owen’s past sprinkled here and there in The Recruit Season 1? That’s continuing in the new season. In South Korea, where the show spent about a month filming, Owen reflects on his childhood.
“Korea carries a heavy weight for him but also brings back sweet core memories from his childhood,” Centineo said of his character. But, of course, it’s not the focus. There’s still “all the vicious and life-threatening fun Owen loves to find himself in the middle of.”
The Recruit Season 2 premieres on Jan. 30, 2025. Until then, fans can rewatch previous episodes, which are available to stream on Netflix.
