The Star Wars sequel trilogy consists of three films: The Force Awakens, which was released in 2015, The Last Jedi in 2017, and The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.

With a star-studded cast and the added benefit of years of nostalgia to back them up, the films should have been a sure thing with fans.

Still, while the movies made big money at the box office, fans themselves were much more divided, with many openly slamming all three of the films for everything from lazy storytelling to poor casting decisions.

To this day, many are unsure as to the overall quality of the sequel trilogy — in spite of that, some fans on Reddit recently opened up about three scenes in the movies that are undeniable fan-favorites.

One of the most damning criticisms leveled at the Star Wars sequel trilogy is that the films are full of inconsistencies, with directors and producers unable to decide on some of the most important plot points and overall themes.

Others have claimed that the movies often seem to be made up on the fly, with little-to-no character development — even for central characters like Rey, the scavenger-turned Jedi from Jakku.

Still, there are at least three scenes that, to the most critical fans, rise above the fray to stand as shining examples of movie magic.

‘The Force Awakens’ contains one of the most magical sequel trilogy scenes

In a recent Reddit thread, fans acknowledged that a scene in The Force Awakens is one of the sequel trilogy’s most awe-inspiring moments.

The scene, which features Rey calling Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber to here from where it lies half-buried in snow, was praised as “beautiful” by fans in the comments, with one fan writing “Beautiful movies. Truly.”

Which ‘The Last Jedi’ scene do fans love?

The Last Jedi might have been a movie that caused considerable division in the fan base, but when it comes to the scene where Kylo Ren confronts his former teacher, Luke Skywalker, on the salt planet Crait, fans agree that the quality is exceptional, from the cinematography to the production design.

“There’s a lot to love with the characters, themes, visuals, and great moments like these,” wrote one fan on Reddit.

The third slide featured in the Reddit thread was the scene in The Rise of Skywalker when Ben Solo (a reformed Kylo Ren) joins with Rey to take on Darth Sidious.

“Ben and Rey connecting in TROS before she hands him the saber is one of my favorite moments,” wrote one fan.

Another fan praised the scene as a culmination of Kylo and Rey’s relationship throughout all three films: “It’s one of the best moments of the sequels to me – their connection and the way that objects can pass through the Force is built up throughout the film, from Kylo taking the necklace on Pasaana to the various objects destroyed in their lightsaber fight over/on Kijimi, and the build-up has such an awesome payoff in this moment, where they use it for cooperation for the first time — it’s just fantastic!”

Clearly, even though the films were controversial when they were released, time heals all wounds — at least for some formerly disgruntled fans of the franchise. Stay tuned to Showbiz Cheat Sheet for all the latest entertainment news!
