The Sweetest Things Prince William Has Ever Said About Kate Middleton
Prince William and Kate Middleton were wed in the spring of 2011. With eight years together, the couple has had more than their fair share of time to get to know one another.
The honeymoon phase has come and gone. The rose-tinted glasses have been tossed to the side. Family matters have kicked off in full swing.
Even so, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have no shortage of sweet words to whisper about each other. Let’s take a look at five of the sweetest things Prince William has said about his beautiful wife, Kate Middleton.
‘I think she would have loved the day and I think; hopefully, she’d be very proud of us both for the day. I’m just very sad that she’s never going to get a chance to meet Kate.’
Sadly, Princess Diana was not able to be present at her eldest son’s wedding. Even so, Prince William was positive that his late mother would have been ecstatic about the big day. While speaking with ABC host Katie Couric he confessed that he wished his mother could have attended.
He went on to say that he believes she would have been proud of both of them. Prince Harry drove the point home with this line:
“She would have loved Kate.” – Prince Harry
‘This is a very special moment for Catherine and me. It feels like coming home.’
As you probably know, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge first crossed paths while they were studying at St. Andrews University. The adorable pair have talked about their first meeting plenty of times, but it was this two-liner from Prince William that takes the cake!
The heartfelt sentiment was said when the pair returned to the University for its 600th-anniversary celebration in 2011.
While Middleton may have been at a loss for words during the emotional moment, she did share this adorable memory when discussing their first time meeting.
“Well I actually think I went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off, feeling very shy about meeting you.” Kate Middleton (The Telegraph)
‘He’s got [Kate’s] looks, thankfully.’
There are many ways you can compliment your partner’s looks; Prince William went the funny route. When Middleton gave birth to Prince George in 2013, the new father figure was ecstatic.
He took note of just how beautiful his baby boy was and affectionately dropped this comment.
‘Catherine has been doing an amazing job as a mother and I’m very proud of her.’
After the birth of Princess Charlotte in 2015, Prince William took some time off to bond with his new baby girl. During the mini vacation, he really got the opportunity to appreciate just how amazing his family was. That being said, it’s no surprise that he gushed about Middleton to BBC as soon as he had the chance.
“It is fantastic having a lovely little family and I am so thrilled. Catherine has been doing an amazing job as a mother and I’m very proud of her.” – Prince William (BBC)
‘I’m a lot more emotional than I used to be. I never used to get too wound up or worried about things. But now the smallest little things, you well up a little more, you get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world or whatever a lot more, I think, as a father.’
During his interview for When Ant and Dec Met The Prince: 40 Years of the Prince’s Trust, Prince Charles opened up about how Middleton had a hand in changing his personality for the better.
William admitted to being less emotional in his youth, but once he started a family, his stoic persona shifted into a more sensitive one. He attributes the change to starting a family and becoming a dad. It’s not a surprising change, but it’s one that he recognizes and is thankful for!
