‘The Traitors’ Season 3 Cast Includes a Cousin of Queen Elizabeth II
A distant relative of the British royal family will team up with reality TV vets from Survivor and The Real Housewives in season 3 of Peacock’s The Traitors.
Peacock reveals ‘The Traitors’ Season 3 cast
On Wednesday, The Traitors host Alan Cumming revealed the cast for the next season of the reality competition show, which features contestants completing challenges in an effort to win a cash prize worth up to $250,000. But lurking in the group of “Faithful” players are “Traitors.” Their mission is to eliminate the Faithful and claim the prize for themselves. If they want to win, the Faithful will need to identify the Traitors and banish them from the castle. If any Traitor makes it to the end, they’ll take all the cash from the remaining Faithful.
Next season’s confirmed cast includes Wells Adams from The Bachelorette, Dolores Catania from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and Bob Harper from The Biggest Loser. Most of the cast members have appeared on one or more reality TV shows. But one comes from a different world entirely. Lord Ivar Mountbatten is a British royal related to Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III.
Who is Lord Ivar Mountbatten?
Lord Ivar Mountbatten, 63, is a cousin of both Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, through his father David Mountbatten, 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven.
Lord Ivar’s great-great-great-grandmother is Queen Victoria, who was also the great-great-grandmother of Queen Elizabeth. His great-grandmother is Victoria’s granddaughter, Princess Victoria of Hesse, who married Prince Louis of Battenberg. His grandfather, Prince George of Battenburg, was the brother of Princess Alice of Battenberg, the mother of Prince Philip. That lineage makes him a third cousin once removed of Queen Elizabeth and a first cousin once removed of Prince Philip.
In 2018, Lord Ivar made history by becoming the first member of the extended royal family to marry a same-sex partner when he wed James Coyle. The couple live in a restored Georgian mansion at Bridwell Park in Devon.
