‘The Ultimatum’: Everything We Know New Netflix Reality Show Teased on ‘Love Is Blind’ Reunion
Netflix revealed a new original reality TV show by the creators of Love Is Blind, called The Ultimatum. Here’s everything we know about the latest social experiment Netflix reality dating show.
What is Netflix’s new reality TV show ‘The Ultimatum’?
At the end of the March 4 Love Is Blind reunion special, Nick and Vanessa Lachey unveil the trailer for Netflix’s new show, The Ultimatum. Check out the trailer below:
Nick explains, “Now when love is blind, you both know you want to get married before ever seeing each other. But in Netflix’s new dating series, The Ultimatum, six couples have come to a point in their relationships where one person is ready to be married, and the other, well, isn’t.”
“In this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, these couples will put their relationships to the ultimate test with the hopes that they’ll walk away engaged to the person that they are truly meant to be with,” Vanessa adds.
“Each person will be compatible with multiple partners. They’ll each select one new partner to move in with for three weeks in a trial marriage. They’ll get to experience two different visions and versions of what their married life could look like. And at the end of the experiment, they will have to decide if they want to marry the person they arrived with or split forever,” Nick explains.
‘The Ultimatum’ vs. ‘Love Is Blind’
While there will be similarities between Love Is Blind and The Ultimatum (the metallic wine glasses, for example), there are many differences. The first, and most obvious, difference is that the cast will be arriving on the set of The Ultimatum with a significant other already.
However, similar to Love Is Blind, the cast of The Ultimatum will decide to either choose to marry their person or move on.
How does ‘The Ultimatum’ experiment work?
In the teaser for The Ultimatum, the hosts, Nick and Vanessa Lachey explain how the show will work.
“You’re here because someone in your relationship has issued an ultimatum. One partner is ready to get married, and the other isn’t sure,” Vanessa explains.
Nick tells the cast, “At the end of the week, you’ll each choose a new partner.” Based on the trailer, it appears the contestants will be living together for the first week.
Then Vanessa reveals, “You’ll move in together for three weeks.” By the end of the three-week experience, they will have to choose to either get married or move on.
The Ultimatum is based on the idea is that by stepping away from their original partner, the contestant will gain clarity and will be able to make a better choice regarding commitment.
Will this social experiment work? Either way, the cast’s relationships will never be the same after this experiment. The Ultimatum drops April 6, 2022, on Netflix.
