Why Alexis Maloney and Hunter Parr are on ‘The Ultimatum’
Alexis gave Hunter an ultimatum after dating for two years. Hunter wanted to move in together, but Alexis wanted to get engaged first. It seemed like they were willing to do the experiment so Hunter could figure out if he wanted to take that step.
All of the couples had to break up and date each other to pick a new partner to live with. Hunter seemed to make a few connections. One of them was with April Mae. She wanted to pick him, but he made an unexpected decision of proposing to Alexis.
“I know you gave the ultimatum, but I love you so much,” he told her. “You talked about clarity, and you talked about wanting to understand what I want and what I need. And this experience has showed me so clearly that I was just scared and I was using moving in together as a way to delay what I knew inside, and I’m not scared anymore.” She happily said yes and they left the show early.
Hunter said the other women made him realize he’s ready to propose
Hunter was the one hesitant to get engaged. But he revealed how that all changed while talking to the other women.
“I made the decision the night prior,” he revealed to Us Weekly. “During the mixer that we had the night before was the first time I actually got to see Alexis and interact with her one-on-ones since starting the show.”
He later talked about reuniting with Alexis after they “broke up” on the show. “It was great to see her,” Hunter said. “I really felt a strong connection with her upon being with her again, [which] made me realize, ‘OK, all of these connections that I was having and making with the other women were because of personality traits that Alexis already had.’ So I was like, ‘OK, I’m ready to propose, let’s do this.’ And so the night before I knew, and it was very difficult for me to keep it quiet because all I wanted to do was interrupt her when she was expressing how much pain she was in.”
Hunter then said, “I had to surprise her. I thought, you know, ‘Alexis likes surprises and I had to deliver on a big moment.’”
