On May 2, 2022, Madlyn Ballatori and Colby Kissinger welcomed their first child together, Josephine “Josie” Riley.
Speaking to E! News, the married couple revealed all of their Ultimatum castmates sent them well-wishes following the birth, and hosts Vanessa, and Nick Lachey sent them “an incredible care package” stocked with outfits and other things for the baby. The couple welcomed the child one year after they married, following the finale of The Ultimatum.
They were one of the season’s biggest surprises as they weren’t on the same page about marriage. Additionally, he seemed confident that she was the one for him, whereas she didn’t seem sure. Throughout the season, she and her friends noted how much more they liked her trial spouse Randall Griffin.
During the finale, Madlyn and Colby briefly broke up when he seemed to blame her for his interactions with a female at the club. Therefore, fans didn’t expect the couple to make it, much less show up to the reunion a year later, still married and very pregnant.
Madlyn previously denied being pregnant while filming
Madlyn appeared seven months pregnant at the reunion, confusing some fans who thought she might have been pregnant during filming.
However, the reality TV star clarified the rumors on her Instagram story by posting a screenshot of an article revealing when the cast filmed the season.
The publication claimed the Netflix dating show began shooting around March 2021 in Austin, Texas, and the participants returned nearly a year later, in February 2022, for the reunion.
Madlyn added a text noting that she and Colby married in May 2021 and are planning to welcome their baby in late April or early May 2022. As the couple likely conceived four months after tying the knot around August 2021, she wasn’t pregnant during filming.
Colby shared ‘unseen’ footage of their ‘second wedding’ to his Instagram story
Madlyn and Colby immediately married after he proposed to her during the finale, but it wasn’t legally binding. Therefore, they went to a courthouse the following day and officially tied the knot.
A week after the reunion aired, in April 2022, Colby shared “unseen” footage of their special day on his Instagram feed. Set to Pastis’ “Give It All Up,” the minute-long clip featured the smiling couple walking into the courtroom hand-in-hand where a judge married them.
The couple exchanged vows, rings, and kisses before a judge handed them their certificates, which they showed off in multiple shots.
Colby also uploaded the clip to his Instagram story, where he included more context, adding, “check out our second wedding and stay tuned for the third (Colby’s dream wedding).” The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On is streaming on Netflix.
