The creator confirmed ‘The Ultimatum’ Season 2 will feature an LGBT cast
Creator Chris Coelen, who is behind another reality TV dating experiment, Love Is Blind, confirmed a second season to The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, he revealed it would follow an all-LGBTQ cast.
“There are all kinds of fascinating love stories to tell. Being inclusive across different backgrounds and different ethnicities is something that we’ve done from day one on all of our shows,” he explained. A promotional video released on Twitter also leaked the news as an accompanying song announced, “It’s called The Ultimatum, and it’s dropping two seasons/One of which is queer with mostly women.
However, Love Is Blind likely won’t follow suit. Speaking to Metro, Coelen explained the reality TV hit isn’t “particularly about sexuality” and noted that “an LGBTQ version of that has some logistical difficulties in the current setup.”
While the creator didn’t clarify further, Love Is Blind separates the singles by gender. Therefore it’s unclear how they could split up the cast, so it doesn’t spoil the reveal after the engagement. A release date for the LGBTQ season hasn’t been announced yet. The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On airs on Netflix.
