Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy is now available to stream. Many fans binged the whole season on Netflix, which was filled with twists up to the very end. They reacted to a fake out involving a beloved character. [Spoiler alert for The Umbrella Academy Season 2 ending.]

‘The Umbrella Academy’ started with Ben already dead

The show started with Ben Hargreeves (Justin H. Min) already dead. It’s still unclear how he died, but it’s possible some of the family members were involved.

“I know everyone blames you for what happened to Ben,” Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) told Luther (Tom Hopper.) “But none of us knows what really happened that day.”

We do still get to know Ben because Klaus (Robert Sheehan) has the power to summon the dead. Ben is usually criticizing Klaus’ bad choices like drinking.

The first season ended with Klaus being able to physically manifest Ben and Ben used his powers and was seen by his other family members. Season 3 showed them having another ability.

It looked like Ben would be gone for good

Season 2 picked up with Ben and Klaus still being very much tied to each other. Klaus becomes a cult leader in the 1960s and he has many followers doing his bidding. However, he’s still unhappy and tries to save a man he fell in love with in Vietnam.

Ben also grows this season by being able to possess Ben’s body. He uses it to talk to a follower that he has a crush on. The season almost ends in a heartbreaking note for Ben.

That’s because he goes to stop Vanya (Ellen Page) from destroying the world again. He’s successful, but he also gets destroyed in the process.

We think we’ll never see him again until The Umbrella Academy returns to 2019 and they meet The Sparrow Academy. Another version of Ben is shown and he has a different look.

Fans who already finished the season are reacting to the big fake out. They admitted to being put on an emotional rollercoaster.

“SPOILER: the way I sobbed over this man just for him to come back as an emo a**hole hahaha the range #UmbrellaAcademy #UmbrellaAcademy2,”one fan tweeted.

“Dear Ben, Thank you for making me cry. When I say character development it’s you, Ben. Wonder never cease, upon seeing you as a part of the Sparrow academy.#UmbrellaAcademy2 #UmbrellaAcademy,” tweeted another fan.

“Cried watching Ben hugging Vanya and saying goodbye only to see him back again but in the wrong academy I’m- #umbrellaacademy,” another fan tweeted.

The bad news is the third season of the show won’t be returning until 2022. Fans will have to come up with their theories until then to figure out why this version of Ben exists.
