After The Umbrella Academy Season 2 cliffhanger, many fans couldn’t wait to learn more about Reginald Hargreeves’ (Colm Feore) new crew of superhumans. Here’s what we know so far about the siblings in the elusive Sparrow Academy.
‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 is on it’s way
A third season of The Umbrella Academy was confirmed in November 2020.
“Oh my god! We’re back! Again! It’s official. Production for S3 of The Umbrella Academy begins in February,” a post on the official Instagram read. The release date is unclear at this time, but fans can expect 10 episodes of fresh content in season 3.
Now, a little more detail is known about what to expect from season 3 of The Umbrella Academy, including the names and characteristics of the Sparrow Academy.
Meet the members of the Sparrow Academy
“Meet the sparrows,” the caption read on a post from the official Umbrella Academy Instagram account. The post included photos, names, and the corresponding actors for the Sparrow Academy members that fans will see in season 3.
In numerical order, the members of the Sparrow Academy are:
- Marcus (Justin Cornwell)
- Ben (Justin H. Min)
- Fei (Britne Oldford)
- Alphonso (Jake Epstein)
- Sloane (Genesis Rodriguez)
- Jayme (Cazzie David)
- Christopher (Credited as the Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube)
The Sparrow Academy share similarities to the members of the Umbrella Academy
The Umbrella Academy‘s Instagram Stories revealed more about each character. For starters, Marcus sounds a lot like Luther (Tom Hopper). He is charming, chiseled, colossus and a natural, confident leader who strives to keep the family together.
Then there’s Ben, who has a new set of personality traits. He is described as “vicious, pragmatic, and hyper-vigilant.” His sole goal is to gain leader status, which sounds like Diego (David Castañeda) in season 1 of the Netflix series.
Meanwhile, Alphonso “bears his scars from years of crime-fighting” and is armed with a “biting sense of humor.” Like the Umbrella Academy’s Number Five (Aidan Gallagher), Alphonso “enjoys verbally berating his enemies.”
Sloane seems a lot like Klaus (Robert Sheehan), as she is a “romantic and a dreamer” who “feels tied down to her family, despite lofty plans of her own.” Like Klaus, Sloane wants to experience life outside of her upbringing.
Not every member of the Sparrow Academy has cut-and-dry characteristics that resemble a Hargreeves sibling. As for the remaining Sparrows, Fei “sees the world in a special way,” is “typically the smartest person in the room,” and “won’t stop until the job is done.” Jayme is a brilliant loner with a “fear-inducing snarl.”
What’s more, the Sparrow Academy student most fans want to know more about is Christopher the cube.
‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 will explain Christopher the cube
When season 2 concluded, showrunner Steve Blackman hosted an Ask-Me-Anything on Reddit.
“What’s up with the unidentified green cube?” one fan asked.
“His name is Christopher,” he wrote. Blackman said nothing more on the subject, and fans didn’t really think anything of his answer — until now.
Little is known about Christopher, as the telekinetic psykronium cube’s origins are unknown. We do know that he’s loyal and has the capability to turn a room “freezing cold and induce paralyzing fear.” Despite being an object, the Sparrows treat Christopher like a human.
Many fans are excited to know more about Christopher in season 3 of The Umbrella Academy.
“The cube is my favorite already,” a fan said on Reddit. “He just looks so full of charisma in that picture.”
