‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 Posters May Have Just Revealed Every Member’s Birthplace
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 continues to ramp up its marketing efforts as we near the premiere date of June 22, 2022. On May 8, 2022, the official Twitter account for the series revealed several new posters featuring the members of The Umbrella Academy. At first, it appears the posters are typical character posters, but a closer look possibly reveals a hint at each Hargreeves sibling’s birthplace.
‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 1 showed several women spontaneously giving birth
In the premiere episode of The Umbrella Academy, a narrator states that 43 women gave birth around the world. While that in itself isn’t anything spectacular, these women, in particular, weren’t pregnant when the day began. We later learn that the creator of The Umbrella Academy, and the Hargreeves’ adoptive father, Reginald Hargreeves, is an alien and most likely set the phenomenon in motion.
The Umbrella Academy Season 2 confirms the baby audiences see born in season 1 is Viktor Hargreeves (Elliot Page,) but the mothers of the rest of the Hargreeves remain unclear. However, the latest character posters revealed for The Umbrella Academy Season 3 hint at each of the Hargreeves’ birthplaces.
Did the new character posters for ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 give fans some answers?
In August 2020, Steve Blackman participated in a Reddit AMA. One of the questions asked was why Number Five (Aiden Gallagher) doesn’t have a proper name. Blackman’s answer also hinted at where the other children were born.
“Grace helped the kids choose names that were popular from their birth places. However, Five couldn’t decide on one before getting lost in the apocalypse. Now, he just likes the name ‘Five,'” Blackman said.
Blackman’s answer caused fans to assume Klaus hailed from Germany while Luther was possibly born in a European country. However, nothing has been confirmed.
In The Umbrella Academy Season 3 character posters, each person poses with a suitcase with various stickers. The stickers vary, but each suitcase includes one travel sticker potentially hinting at each character’s home country.
Luther’s sticker reads “Stockholm,” while Diego’s decal reads, “Visit Mexico.” Allison’s sticker says, “Welcome to Capetown.” Klaus’s suitcase includes a red sticker that reads, “Pennsylvania,” Number Five’s says, “Welcome to Dublin, Ireland,” and Viktor’s says, “Moscow, Russia.”
Klaus’ birthplace in Pennsylvania seems wrong at first glance, but if you look at the state’s history, his presumed German heritage still stands. A large population of Pennsylvania Dutch live in and around the area after German immigrants settled there in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Is Lila an official member in season 3?
Another curious addition to the new posters for The Umbrella Academy Season 3 revolves around Lila (Ritu Arya.) Lila learned The Handler (Kate Walsh) murdered her family to raise Lila as her own and take advantage of Lila’s supernatural abilities. However, Lila used a suitcase from The Commission to escape at the last minute. This left her loyalties up in the air.
In the new character posters, Ben (Justin H. Min) no longer belongs to The Umbrella Academy, and it appears as though Lila replaced him. Lila’s sticker on her suitcase reads, “Berlin.”
Fans only need to wait a few more weeks before they can watch it all play out on screen. Stay tuned to Showbiz Cheat Sheet for all your latest The Umbrella Academy Season 3 news.
