‘The View’: Meghan McCain Sends Wishes To ‘Favorite Liberal Sparring Partner’ Joy Behar
Joy Behar celebrated her birthday on The View today. Although it was not like year’s past when the whole studio audience cheered for her, the talk show co-hosts did acknowledge the special day. As Meghan McCain is currently on maternity leave, the conservative star dedicated a sweet post to Behar on Instagram.
What did Joy Behar say about her birthday?
During the show, Whoopi Goldberg took some time off the “Hot Topics” to find out how Behar would celebrate her birthday. Since we’re in the middle of a pandemic, the comedian would be in quarantine during the special moment.
“When I get off this show, I’m taking all this makeup off and then you’ll see what I really look like,” she told her fellow co-hosts. “And then I’m going to do something… I don’t know, maybe go to a food market outside and buy something. Then my kids are coming over and they’re making me a paella. And then I’m going to watch the debate. That’s my day.”
“I feel as though everyone is getting older and the time is going by so fast, it’s a little scary,” she added.
Behar said that there would be cake after Sarah Haines asked.
“My only wish is that we could be together today and celebrate,” she ended before the commercial break.
Meghan McCain shares sweet post
Over on Instagram, McCain did not forget about her co-host. The Republican pundit shared a picture of both of them wearing “ugly” Christmas sweaters and accessories.
“Happy Birthday to my favorite liberal sparring partner Joy Behar — there’s no one I love fighting with more,” McCain shared. “I really miss loitering around in your dressing room, watching cable news, and gossiping after the show with you… You are a true powerhouse and ultimate original! Grateful to call you a friend.”
Meghan McCain talks about friendship with Joy Behar
McCain and Behar have starred in many heated exchanges on The View but one thing is for sure, they are friends. Although they are both on opposite ends of politics, they find common ground when it comes to friendship. In an interview last November 2019, McCain expressed how she feels when tabloids report on alleged feuds.
“It really hurts my feelings!” McCain told ET. “It genuinely hurts my feelings because our dressing rooms are next door to each other and you and I have the same emotional reaction to things — sometimes in different ways — but we’re both upset equally, the equal amount of the same things. And I wish people would give us a break, for real.”
During that same interview, Behar chimed in saying that they are both good for each other as they help see things from a different perspective.
“We’re both becoming a little bit more, um, not moderate, but we’ve sort of become… Like, we’re not so adamant about our positions,” Behar added. “Like today, I was talking about how, you know, I think a moderate needs to win the election to beat [President Donald] Trump. Originally, I would say I wanted Elizabeth Warren because she was new stuff and she was exciting. But I’m not sure that she could pull it off. So, now I’m in reality again and I think you have changed your positions a little bit, moderated them, modified.”
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. CT/PT on ABC.
