‘The View’: The Real Reason Meghan McCain Is Missing From Show
Meghan McCain and the ladies of The View returned this week with their first live episodes of 2020. The “Hot Topics” were sizzling in politics and the co-hosts did not miss a beat getting back in the game. However, on Thursday McCain went missing from the panel which left fans puzzled. There are rumors that there’s tension between the cast and the conservative co-host. A new report is now giving viewers insight into what really happened.
At the top of the show on Thursday, Whoopi Goldberg announced that McCain was not on the program. Although the show’s moderator didn’t say why McCain was absent, she did say the Republican would return on Monday.
As fans speculated online what happened to the conservative co-host, a report from Page Six spilled the tea. A source close to the ABC talk show revealed that McCain had already planned to take a personal day Friday. It was her absence on Thursday that was completely unexpected.
“She stayed home for a personal matter,” the source told Page Six.
Are the ladies not talking to Meghan McCain?
The day that McCain went missing from The View a report was published alleging a tense work environment. It was noted that McCain and Abby Huntsman had a fallout and were not as close as they once were.
“They aren’t speaking to each other. It’s been about a month. None of the ladies talk to Meghan now,” an inside source told Page Six. “Abby was the last woman standing. It’s bad. Meghan’s so rude.”
A second source said, ” Abby tolerates Meghan, but she doesn’t genuinely like her. Their friendship has soured.
Following the article, there was a second one published that claims that the allegations were exaggerated.
“Of course [McCain is] polarizing, but that’s the point of the show. It’s always going to be tense after big arguments and we’re living in a polarized time, but there is no hate going on,” the source told Fox News. “She brings views to represent the other side and it can really irk people.”
Meghan McCain on rumors about Joy Behar
One recurring feud during the heated debates is the one between McCain and Joy Behar. Their intense arguments have led to viral moments on social medial. Although many think that there’s a tense relationship between the co-hosts, that’s not true.
“It really hurts my feelings!” McCain told ET of feuding rumors with Behar. “It genuinely hurts my feelings because our dressing rooms are next door to each other and you and I have the same emotional reaction to things — sometimes in different ways — but we’re both upset equally, the equal amount of the same things. And I wish people would give us a break, for real.”
McCain feels the same way about Goldberg, which she shared after an intense crossfire.
“I love you very much. I’ve loved you for a long time,” McCain told Golberg during the live show. “You were good friends with my dad. We fight like we’re family. It’s all good. We’re not tearing the set apart. Calm down, all of you, okay? It’s all good… I think it is a lens into what’s happening politically in the country. America’s at very heated levels right now and I don’t love it. But it is representative of what’s going on and it is raw and real. We are all passionate women. I am hyper, hyper-conservative, everybody else at the table is not. Sometimes we’re going to clash heads.”
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT/CT on ABC.
