Whoopi Goldberg Dealing With Technical Glitches on ‘The View’ Makes for a Hilarious Moment
Whoopi Goldberg is the moderator on The View and is the one that takes the show from topic to topic. The comedian has been the star of the daytime program since taking over Rosie O’Donnell in 2007. During the pandemic, the co-hosts have been broadcasting from their respective homes and technical glitches often ensue. A moment this week has made for a hilarious video that has gone viral on social media.
What did Whoopi Goldberg do?
This week has been hectic on The View as the transition of power has taken over the “Hot Topics.” A day after Joe Biden’s Inauguration as the 46th president of the United States of America, the co-hosts had a lot to talk about. As the ladies took turns to talk about their favorite moments of the day, Sunny Hostin was noticeably absent from the debate.
It turns out that Hostin was having technical difficulties with her remote broadcast to the show. During a moment that has now gone viral, Goldberg introduced Hostin enthusiastically only to see that Hostin was radio silent. When Goldberg thought she was ready to talk, she noticed that the image was frozen. Goldberg’s reaction was endearing and fans loved to see it.
“I could watch Whoopi do this for a full hour,” a Twitter user posted sharing the funny moment.
Goldberg’s pauses and facial expressions were so funny that even co-host Meghan McCain shared the clip of the moment.
Whoopi Goldberg shuts down Meghan McCain
Everyone knows Goldberg is the moderator of the show and the leader of The View. However, not everyone respects that position taking into account they are all broadcasting from different locations. It can sometimes get confusing for the viewers when they are all speaking at the same time. With five strong and opinionated women trying to chime in, it can get pretty hectic if there’s no control and Goldberg is the perfect queen for that job.
In a recent episode, Goldberg exercised her power as a moderator when McCain got a little too passionate questioning Senator Raphael Warnock. The latter made an appearance on the show after his triumph at the Georgia special election.
With McCain being the only Republican on the panel, she takes it upon herself to ask hard questions to the Democrats that come on the show. McCain asked Senator-elect Warnock about Democrats “packing the courts.”
Warnock did not deliver an answer to McCain’s satisfaction who insisted on the same query. The Senator-elect didn’t fall for McCain’s trap and instead focused on explaining Americans are more worried about having healthcare and a paycheck than packing the courts.
McCain tried to get an answer out of Warnock but it was time to cut to commercial break. Goldberg tried to interject nicely to send off the guest but McCain continued interrupting.
“Hey! Listen! We are going to say thanks to the Senator-elect Reverend Raphael Warnock,” Whoopi says as the show’s music plays out to commercial break and she shakes her head.
As the show goes to commercial, Goldberg is visibly distraught at the situation. However, after Goldberg shut down McCain, executive producer Brian Teta explained the situation.
“At the end of the act I was yelling and several other people were yelling in Whoopi’s ear, ‘We have to go to break.’ No issue here, no drama here, just our fault,” Teta explained.
The View airs weekday mornings at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT/CT on ABC.
