Meghan McCain of The View is iconic and has made a name for herself for voicing her opinions on the ABC talk show. For a conservative voice like hers, it’s not easy to have a contrasting viewpoint on the panel as she debates the “Hot Topics.” The panel continued to talk about the aftermath of the Meghan Markle bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. However, McCain took the conversation elsewhere and left Whoopi Goldberg completely bewildered.

Meghan McCain likens herself to Meghan Markle

The View did not miss a beat on Monday’s episode when they reacted to the interview the Duchess of Sussex gave to Oprah. McCain sympathized with the former Suits star in the mental toll it takes reading about oneself in the tabloids.

“It will do a number on your mental health like you can’t believe,” she said of reading gossip in the media about herself. “It will make you feel isolated [and] it will make you feel paranoid. And I think it’s a specific way that women are abused in the media.”

Although McCain expressed that she was not comparing her experience to that of Meghan Markle’s, she did come from a point of understanding the feeling. McCain explained that she never contemplated suicide as Markle expressed during the interview.

“I was not, I’ve never been in a place where I’ve contemplated suicide, thank God,” she added. “But I do think when you’re in places (…) and you’re not protected, and people are trafficking in gossip with the intention to make you look bad and hurt your reputation, I can see how they felt like there was no other option for them and their family to put them in a safe space, specifically when she was pregnant.”

Meghan McCain goes on anti-monarchy rant

Over the years, McCain has expressed she doesn’t like to talk about the British Royal Family. On Tuesday’s episode of The View, the ladies covered Piers Morgan’s walk off the set of Good Morning Britain after being called out for slamming Meghan Markle’s interview. McCain completely went off-topic and went on a rant against the British monarchs and expressing her patriotism for the United States of America.

“My ancestors fought in the American Revolution,” she said. “When I was growing up, my brothers and sister and I would pretend to be George Washington and the Continental Army crossing the Delaware River when we would be in the creek. I named my daughter Liberty, I enjoy going to Mount Vernon to visit the homeplace of our founding fathers, I did not want to defend the monarchy. I’m a red-blooded 100% American who celebrates freedom [in] anyway I can. Being put in a position where I’m supposed to defend the monarchy is uncomfortable.”

McCain then said she talk to “very good friends who live in the UK” that say there’s a generational divide about the monarchy. However, she closed off her rant by encouraging “all Americans to visit Mount Vernon and see why monarchies are stupid.”

“The American experiment is the way to go,” she continued. “If we have two American women, Megan Markel and Oprah Winfrey, who are single-handedly finishing what George Washington and our revolutionary counterparts did. I’m all for it.”

Whoopi Goldberg’s reaction is priceless

However, it was what happened after McCain’s rant what everyone is talking about on social media. Following McCain’s speech, Goldberg came up on screen and she couldn’t hide her facial expression upon listening to her co-host.

Many viewers at home felt the same way and made the EGOT legend a meme with her priceless reaction.

The memes for Goldberg came pouring in.

Goldberg’s reaction shot will surely be getting used on social media years to come.
