Every season of The Voice involves four celebrity coaches building teams of vocalists to go up against each other for a big money prize. The coaches are pretty impressive themselves given their careers and they’re still coming out with new hits. So they get a lot of money for taking time off from touring and performing to be on the show. But who is the highest-paid coach on the show? Here is everything you need to know about who is making the most money and why.

Blake Shelton is reportedly the highest-paid coach on The Voice with over $13 million per season

This answer might not be too surprising given Blake Shelton has been on the show since the very first season. He also has won the most with six wins. That means aspiring vocalists end up wanting a spot on his team, and the audience of The Voice just really like him. He also pretty much has the country genre covered while guest coaches are usually overlapping each other in pop or R&B.

Blake Shelton reportedly made about $13 million per season in 2016. But when it came out that he was in a relationship with the former coach, Gwen Stefani they both reportedly used that to their advantage in negotiations and got big bonuses according to Life & Style. Stefani was making more than $13 million in her second season on the show. However, she hasn’t come back since then. But chances are Shelton is still reaping the benefits from that negotiation.

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton’s friendly rivalry is a big part of The Voice since Season 1. He also tends to use his more rock experience as leverage over other coaches like Shelton does with country music. So it also makes sense that Levine would be right behind Shelton and Stefani when it comes to salary. He reportedly made about $13 million per season as well but chances are Shelton’s reported negotiations with Stefani pushed him into the highest-paid coach spot.

Although the highest salaries at the time seem to be over $13 million, there was a time a coach was getting paid more than that. Life & Style reports that Christina Aguilera, who was an original coach, was getting paid $17 million for a season at a time. But she then had to take a pay cut in later seasons. That could be a reason why Aguilera isn’t regularly seen on the show anymore.

The Voice is still trying to gather the most talented and popular stars for the show. John Legend, who is at the height of his game after his Oscar win, will be on the show next season. This might affect Blake Shelton’s hold as the highest-paid coach. But that salary has yet to be revealed.
