‘The White Lotus’ Season 2: Did Mike White Let the New Location Slip Already?
HBO‘s new limited series, The White Lotus, heads into season 2 in 2022 but at a new location. The creator of the show, Mike White, hoped that HBO would renew the series and spoke to several different news outlets about the possibility. He even gave some possible locations, but it looks like HBO wants to keep the new resort under wraps. Take a look at the places that White mentioned so far; did he let the destination slip already?
HBO renewed the limited series for season 2
Ahead of The White Lotus Season 1 finale on Aug. 15, 2021, HBO renewed the series for season 2. HBO The first season followed several travelers during a week-long vacation in a gorgeous resort in Hawaii. However, the second season heads to a new location with a brand new cast.
“Mike has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it’s the talk of the town,” Francesca Orsi, EVP Programming at HBO, explained in a press release. “We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next after closing this epic chapter in Hawaii and can’t wait to keep following him wherever he takes us.”
HBO also reports that The White Lotus currently ranks number one among all HBO Max shows.
‘The White Lotus’ Season 2 location
In preliminary discussions with HBO, Mike White told the network that he wanted The White Lotus Season 2 to be new. In an interview with TVLine, he let an idea slip.
“It would have to be a different hotel, like, say, The White Lotus: San Tropez or something,” the creator told TV Line.
He also discussed the anthology approach with the same dark satire as season 1 but with a new cast. In an interview with Vanity Fair, White suggested an exotic location in France or Japan. Since Saint Tropez is a town in the French Riviera, it stands to reason that it could be the new location for The White Lotus Season 2. Plus, it is one of the most expensive destinations in France, so it fits the setting for a new round of wealthy travelers.
‘The White Lotus’ Season 2 cast
When the news broke that HBO renewed The White Lotus, they mentioned an entirely new cast for season 2. However, hopeful fans still want to see some favorites return from season 1 — particularly Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid. One newcomer that fans hope joins The White Lotus Season 2 location is Laura Dern. The actor starred in Mike White’s Enlightened, so they would love to see her in another one of his shows. However, HBO did not reveal anyone in the season 2 cast yet. The White Lotus Season 2 premieres sometime in 2022 at the new location.
