‘The White Lotus’: It’s True — Tanya McQuoid Is Back — Jennifer Coolidge Reprises Her Role in Season 2
Although it was a rumor for many months, Jennifer Coolidge is officially reprising her role as Tanya McQuoid in The White Lotus Season 2. In the first season of the HBO satire, she portrayed a grief-stricken woman attempting to spread her mother’s ashes. Although no other characters from The White Lotus Season 1 in Maui will return, Tanya will embark on another vacation to a luxurious hotel in Italy.
Jennifer Coolidge reprises her role as Tanya McQuoid in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 2
Since The White Lotus creator Mike White specifically wrote Tanya McQuoid’s role for Jennifer Coolidge, it’s no surprise that she reprises the same role in season 2. Initial reports indicated that she signed on for the second season, but there was no confirmation until now that she plans to portray Tanya McQuoid again. TV Line reported on June 22, 2022, that Coolidge is not playing a new hotel guest — instead, she’s back as the insecure and lonely Tanya.
In the final episode of The White Lotus Season 1, Tanya and her new friend, Greg (Jon Gries), left the resort to travel together to Aspen. However, Greg admitted to Tanya that he has a terminal illness. So, she may still be single when she arrives at the new resort in season 2.
‘The White Lotus’ Season 2 cast update
Jennifer Coolidge is the only character reprising her role in The White Lotus Season 2 cast (so far). But many exciting new actors are joining the vacation in Sicily, Italy. F. Murray Abraham will play a man named Bert DiGrasso. He’s vacationing with his son Dominic (Sopranos alum Michael Imperioli) and his grandson and recent college graduate, Elbie Di Grasso (Adam DiMarco).
Sanditon alum Theo James and Meghann Fahy play Cameron and Daphne Babcock, a married couple on vacation with Ethan Spiller (Will Sharpe) and his wife Harper (Aubrey Plaza).
The White Lotus Season 2 cast also includes Tom Hollander (The Night Manager) as an English ex-pat named Quentin. Hollander’s character is vacationing with his friends and nephew. Haley Lu Richardson portrays Portia, a young woman traveling with her boss, Tanya McQuoid (Coolidge). Meanwhile, Leo Woodall plays a resort guest named Jack.
Deadline reported that creator Mike White added three Italian actors to the cast in March 2022. Recent additions include Sabrina Impacciatore as the manager of the White Lotus Sicily resort, Valentina. Can anyone compare to Murray Bartlett as resort manager Armond? Viewers will have to wait and see. Beatrice Grannó and Simona Tabasco also join the cast as two locals hanging around the hotel, Mia and Lucia.
‘The White Lotus’ Season 2 release date
HBO did not announce an official release date for The White Lotus Season 2. However, the new installment began filming in February 2022, so season 2 could return in late 2022 or early 2023. The good news is that The White Lotus Season 2 will have seven episodes, one more than the inaugural season. There’s no trailer available yet for season 2.
