‘The World’s Smallest Woman’: Jyoti Amge, Who Starred on ‘American Horror Story,’ Is a Viral Tik Tok Sensation
Jyoti Amge tells her incredible story on TLC’s new Extraordinary People special, The World’s Smallest Women: Meet Jyoti. The actor and model is the smallest woman in the world, but at 26-years-old, she’s already had quite a phenomenal career. Jyoti was featured on one of the most popular shows on American TV, and she’s racked up a pretty substantial social media following as well.
Jyoti is the star of ‘The World’s Smallest Woman’ on TLC
Premiering July 9, World’s Smallest Woman follows Jyoti’s story from India to America and chronicles how she lives day-to-day. In one scene of the TLC special, Jyoti is shopping for clothes in the baby section and admits its hard finding adult-looking outfits in her size.
“The best way to not look like a baby is to dress like an adult,” Jyoti says on the show. “It’s hard when you can only shop in the infant section — All these clothes are made for little kids, but I’m not a baby.”
Along with following her budding career and journey to America, the show covers Jyoti’s quest to find a doctor for her debilitating medical condition. For years, she has endured the pain of two broken legs, and she hopes to find a treatment that will minimize any potential risks.
“I have fame, I have friends, but because of my legs, I can’t live my life to the fullest,” Jyoti explains. “I just want my life to get better.”
She was on ‘American Horror Story’
At 26, Jyoti already has a pretty remarkable TV career under her belt. In 2012, she appeared on the Indian reality TV series Bigg Boss 6 (the Indian version of Big Brother). She stayed in the house for five days but her sense of humor and wit made her an instant fan favorite.
Then in 2014, Jyoti made her transition to American TV when she joined the cast of American Horror Story: Freak Show. On the Ryan Murphy series, Jyoti plays Ma Petite, a freak show performer who serves as Elsa’s (Jessica Lange) assistant. She appeared on almost every episode of the season, including the finale.
“People like me might be small in stature, but they can also act,” Jyoti said in a behind the scenes interview for the show. “Regular people should not underestimate people who are small. In every aspect, they can do the things that normal people can.”
“My biggest dream is that I go to Hollywood and become an actress,” she added. “But what used to be my dream is being fulfilled now.”
Jyoti is a social media star
After appearing on Bigg Boss 6 and American Horror Story, Jyoti is a certified TV star. So, it’s no surprise that she’s earned quite a substantial social media following.
She makes Tik Tok videos with her best friend, under the account @atul_Bhoyar_, and their account has over 5 million followers with over 57 million likes. Their videos have racked up millions of views, with one video topping out at nearly 9 million.
