‘The Young and the Restless’: Courtney Hope’s Role Has Been Revealed and It Is Super Familiar
For a while now, soap opera fans have been wondering if actress Courtney Hope would be bringing her The Bold and the Beautiful character to The Young and the Restless. Now, it has been revealed if she will be playing this character or one that is entirely new.
Courtney Hope played Sally Spectra on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’
In 2017, Hope first joined The Bold and the Beautiful as a main cast member, portraying Sally Spectra. The character is the granddaughter of the original Sally Spectra, an iconic character from the show. The original Sally was portrayed by Darlene Conley.
The younger Sally was set to bring back the Spectra family on the show and had a younger sister, Coco Spectra, that was introduced. The character was written off the show in 2018 but she was brought back not long after. Sally is most known for leading Spectra Fashions, her relationship with Wyatt Spencer, and feuds with her rival, Steffy Forrester.
What we know so far about her debut
In an Instagram post for her first official day on set, The Young and the Restless officially confirmed on social media that Hope will still be playing Sally on the show. Hope reposted the photo, writing, “New city, same sass 🐯💄🔥 #SallySpectraisBack.”
According to TV Line, Hope will first debut on the show Nov. 3. The network states that she will be “looking to make a fresh start, while doing her best to keep her colorful past a secret.” CBS also revealed that “she comes to town with an agenda and some surprising connections to key players, including Lauren Fenmore.”
“We really enjoyed Courtney’s work on The Bold and the Beautiful. Sally Spectra is a colorful character that fans love watching,” said The Young and the Restless head writer and co-EP Josh Griffith said in a statement. “We are excited for her to stir things up in Genoa City and join our talented cast.”
Why this makes so much sense
It was rumored for a while that Hope could be play Spectra on The Young and the Restless. This is really no surprise given that The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless are sister soaps and share a lot of continuity. Multiple characters on one show have been on the other one as main characters. Several years ago, The Young and the Restless star Eileen Davidson was main cast member of The Bold and the Beautiful for a period of time. Also, Amber Moore of The Bold and the Beautiful spent several years on The Young and the Restless as a main cast member. Ironically, the original Sally Spectra, played by Conley, appeared on The Young and the Restless too.
However, there have been times when actors who have been in a role on one show get a new role on the other. For example, Don Diamont was a longtime cast member on The Young and the Restless as Brad Carlton before joining The Bold and the Beautiful as Bill Spencer.
Regardless, it will be great for fans of both shows to tune into The Young and the Restless and see Sally.
