‘The Young and the Restless’: Devon and Elena Won’t Stay Apart For Long
Longtime fans of The Young and the Restless are very familiar with the character of Devon Hamilton. Devon has been a fan favorite since his debut as a homeless teen in 2004. He gained even more popularity among Y&R fans after he was revealed to be the biological grandson of Y&R legend, Katherine Chancellor. Since joining the cast as a teenager, it’s safe to say that Devon has always been well-liked.
However, Y&R fans have also had to watch him go through the wringer over the past few years. Luckily, Devon has finally been able to find happiness over the last year with his new love interest, Elena Dawson. However, Devon’s newfound happiness has some fans walking on pins and needles. Many Y&R fans are fearing for the worst, expecting the couple to endure a messy breakup. Read on to learn why many Y&R fans think Devon and Elena’s fairytale romance is bound to be short-lived.
A super couple in the making?
After finding what he thought would be his happily ever after, Devon Hamilton’s world came crashing down. In 2018, Devon seemingly had it all. He was happily married to his wife, Hilary Curtis, and the two were expecting their first child together. However, after a tragic car accident caused by Devon’s sister Lily, both Hillary and the couple’s unborn child were lost. After this heartbreak, Devon was left to pick up the pieces of his shambled life.
While still reeling from the death of wife and child, Devon met Elena Dawson. The character of Elena first made her way to Genoa City in March 2019. A few short months later, Devon and Elena were paired together. Fans couldn’t get enough of this pairing as they watched sparks fly between the couple. These sparks weren’t just limited to the screen, either. The actors who play Devon and Elena, Bryton James and Brytni Sarpy, started a relationship around the same time their characters were paired up on the show. With so much authentic emotional connection, Devon and Elena are a super couple in the making.
A relationship destined to end?
The majority of Y&R fans are rooting for Devon and Elena. However, many are also afraid that the couple’s fairytale may be short-lived. As it turns out, Hillary has a long-lost identical twin sister. This mysterious sister, Amanda Sinclair, has recently made her way to Genoa City. With Amanda being identical to Devon’s deceased wife, fans are convinced that a love triangle is in the works. However, with current global circumstances, fans might be worrying over nothing.
With the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, filming intimate scenes on set has proven to be difficult for daytime soaps. Actors are not allowed to even stand within close quarters, let alone film intimate scenes together. Of course, this is a precaution to keep everyone involved safe from the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. However, due to the fact that Sarpy and James are dating outside of the show and live together, they are still allowed to film intimate scenes with one another on set. Due to the authenticity this creates on-screen, it is unlikely that showrunners will look to split this couple up for long anytime in the near future.
Fooling around with a dummy?
Unlike many of their cast mates, Bryton James and Brytni Sarpy won’t have to be fooling around with any dummies in their upcoming romantic scenes. The Y&R’s sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful, has implemented the use of dummies during romantic scenes as to ensure the set is safe for everyone throughout the duration of the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
The Young and the Restless showrunners are likely to implement the same protocol in any upcoming romance scenes as well. The good news for show creators and fans is that James and Sarpy will still be there to provide a level of intimacy that just can’t be achieved with other characters on the show at the present moment. So for the time being, it looks like Devon and Elena might just get to live out their happily ever after.
