‘The Young and the Restless’: Fans Are Loving Summer’s Style Lately
Wisconsin may not be thought of as a fashion hub, but The Young and the Restless shows that there may be more to the state than what meets the eye.
When Y&R first hit the airwaves in 1973, the show wasn’t necessarily known for its great fashion sense. However, the styling on the show has come a long way over the last few decades, and fans are loving the fashion choices of some younger characters. A current fashion icon on the show is Summer Newman. Fans just can’t get enough of her style lately.

Longtime fans of The Young and the Restless know that characters on the show haven’t always been given the best costume decisions in the past. However, with a bit of help from its fashion-focused sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful, the costume designs have been helped immensely.
A decade after Y&R debuted on CBS, its sister show was born in 1983. With B&B set in Los Angeles, the characters on the show are right in the middle of a well-known fashion scene.
Throughout the years, both shows have borrowed from each other. Many characters have had crossover storylines too. Luckily for the Genoa City gang, these crossover events have included some sharing of fashion tips from the Los Angeles crew.
With B&B being centered around the fashion industry, they certainly know how to style a good outfit. However, not all fans would agree with this sentiment.

Despite the fact that B&B is a fashion-focused show, some fans have been equally as critical of B&B fashion choices as they have been of Y&R’s style. More than a few fans have commented that the style choices on the shows don’t seem to match up the talk with the walk. While some fans aren’t too sold on the questionable fashion decisions of either show’s past, The Bold and the Beautiful have still managed to gain support for their fashion sense from other sources.
At the 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards, B&B picked up four awards. The Digital Journal reports that one of the awards won was Outstanding Costume Design for a Drama or Digital Drama Series.'” With this being just one of the more than a dozen times the soap has been nominated for excellence in costume design, the show must be doing something right in the styling department.

Despite the criticism on the stylist decisions from some fans, most would agree that both shows have upped their style game in recent times. On The Young and the Restless, Summer Newman has been turning heads lately with her wardrobe. Fans are loving the 20-something’s recent looks and have taken to social media to share their excitement.
Twitter user essicaLP2016 recently tweeted out, “Summers outfits and hair have been on point lately.” Twitter user gogoprh61 supported the original tweet and shared how happy she was with the new change, tweeting, “Thank goodness cause they had her looking like little house on the prairie or something.”
