When Rey arrived in Genoa City, he fell into Sharon’s orbit. The detective and the Crimson Lights owner formed an instant attraction. The Young and the Restless fans were curious about Sharon’s new beau. Rey seemed like a good guy and a huge upgrade for the beloved heroine.
Sharon and Rey’s relationship lead to marriage with a New Year’s Eve wedding. The couple is getting ready to celebrate their first anniversary, and many fans are surprised they lasted this long. The Young and the Restless fans are vocal, and one of their biggest flaws is the forced pairing of Sharon and Rey.
On a Twitter thread, viewers discussed why it’s time for the couple to end. “Sharon needs to be rid of Rey cause he is boring,” wrote one user. Another commenter chimed in with, “Rey is killing Sharon and us with BOREDOM. He is awful for her. This forced pairing needs to end.”

Like many The Young and the Restless couples, Sharon and Rey have their issues. The biggest problem for the couple is Sharon’s ex-husband Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Adam’s been a thorn in Rey’s side ever since he returned to Genoa City.
After learning about Adam’s shady past, including kidnapping Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster), Rey doesn’t understand why Sharon wants anything to do with him. As Sharon explained, she and Adam have a connection. She was a Genoa City outcast at one time, something Adam knows very well. When everyone turned their backs on Sharon, Adam stayed by her side.
Sharon’s maintained she and Adam are just friends. She doesn’t want to go down that road with him again. Yet, that hasn’t stopped Rey from worrying that Sharon may leave him for Adam.

Everything’s all quiet in Sharon and Rey’s marriage, with the couple appearing to be in a better place. Yet, not every couple can be content. The Young and the Restless is bound to have more drama coming the couple’s way.
Although Sharon says she doesn’t want Adam, it’s obvious she still has feelings for him. Yet, with Adam moving on with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), it seems Shadam’s days are over. Rey might rest a little easier knowing Adam’s no longer a threat. However, there’s another of Sharon’s ex-husbands he should keep an eye on.
Recently, the show foreshadows a possible reunion with Sharon and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). With Nick and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) over, he’ll receive comfort from Sharon. Nick is Sharon’s first love and the father of her children, and they’ll always have a connection.
Sharon’s committed to Rey, yet their relationship is nothing compared to her and Nick. With Sharon spending more time with Nick, it may reopen old feelings. If so, it may mean hello Shick and goodbye Shey.
