‘The Young and the Restless’ fans angry about Keemo Abbott’s death

Keemo is a The Young and the Restless character that hasn’t been seen or discussed in 25 years. After two decades of pretending he doesn’t exist, the writers finally acknowledged him. Jack’s current storyline has him opening up about his past and setting up a potential reunion with his son.

After receiving mysterious texts from a Los Angeles address belonging to Hao Nguyen, Jack discovered Hao was actually Keemo. The Jabot CEO was dealt a devastating shock when he learned Keemo had died three weeks earlier. Not only is Jack mourning the loss of his son, but so are viewers.

On Twitter, fans voiced their disappointment in the show killing off a legacy character. “So y’all bring up Keemo after all this time just to turn around and say he hated his dad and now he died?” wrote one viewer. “Well…this is disappointing. I was looking forward to a real story with Jack and his son,” another commenter chimed in.

Father and son were estranged

Ever since Keemo arrived on The Young and the Restless in 1994, his and Jack’s relationship has been rocky. His reunion with Jack and Luan Nguyen (Elizabeth Sung) was tense due to Keemo’s resentment over Jack abandoning him. However, the two repaired their bond, and Jack was overjoyed to have a son.

Yet, tragedy struck the family when Luan died after she and Jack married. Keemo was upset to learn Jack kept Luan’s illness a secret. Although Keemo was furious, he eventually forgave his father before leaving town in 1996. However, Jack later confessed to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) that he and Keemo were estranged.

Their strained relationship was so bad that Keemo changed his name and cut off all contact with his dad.

Jack Abbott learns secrets about his son

The Young and the Restless is about to delve into Keemo’s past with Jack’s storyline. Although the Abbott patriarch didn’t want to open old wounds, Keemo’s death changed his mind. He wants to know who the mystery texter is and their connection to Keemo. With Phyllis’ help, Jack goes to California to seek answers.
