Aside from its romance and drama elements, The Young and the Restless also knows how to write suspense. As Mariah’s friends and family search for her, fans have begun speculating on who’s holding her captive. Although Dr. Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) seems the obvious choice, viewers believe a twist is coming in the story. Fans wonder if Nina Webster is Mariah Copeland’s kidnapper

The suspect list surrounding Mariah’s kidnapping continues to grow. Stitch is at the top of everyone’s list due to his suspicious behavior since returning to town. However, as The Young and the Restless fans know, the show likes to throw in a plot twist. Although Stitch seems like the obvious choice, odds are writers will choose someone else as the kidnapper.

One unexpected character who fans have added to their suspect list is Nina. With Nina being one of The Young and the Restless‘ beloved heroines, nobody would think she’d commit a heinous crime. Yet, as fans pointed out in a Reddit thread, her odd behavior shows she can’t be ruled out. “Nina’s carefree attitude and her also getting a bit upset with Tessa for trying to figure things out was weird,” wrote one user.

‘The Young and the Restless’: Fans Are Hoping Chance and Abby Will Have a Baby

Nina returned to Genoa City last year for the wedding of her son Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) to Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway). After Chance left for a secret mission, Nina stayed in town to help Abby continue with the couple’s plans to start a family. With the help of their friends Mariah and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), Abby’s dream of motherhood was coming true.

Nina knows how much having a baby means to her son and daughter-in-law, so it’s strange she would kidnap their surrogate. Yet, as The Young and the Restless fans have seen, the show has a habit of turning beloved characters into villains. So it wouldn’t be surprising if Nina kidnapped Mariah in hopes of breaking up Abby and Chance’s marriage.

Did another ‘The Young and the Restless’ character kidnap Mariah?

Although the show is trying to focus on Nina, some fans believe she’s not the kidnapper. Stitch remains the top suspect; however, fans aren’t ruling out other The Young and the Restless characters. Stitch’s son Max Rayburn (Jared Breeze) is a name that’s been floating around. Given Max’s hatred toward Abby, he could’ve kidnapped Mariah to hurt his former stepmother.

Ian Ward (Ray Wise) is another character who’s considered a suspect. The former cult leader has ties to Mariah and kidnapped her years ago. It’s possible he could’ve returned to wreak havoc on the lives of Mariah and the Newman family.

Could the kidnapper be a current or past The Young and the Restless character? Or could it be someone new the show is introducing? Whoever the culprit is, fans are hoping the police will capture them soon, and Mariah’s reunited with her loved ones.
