The Young and the Restless Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) may be prepping for another family reunion. Jack’s at the center of a new mystery that might bring someone back from his past. That person is his son Keemo Abbott (Philip Moon).
‘The Young and the Restless’ Jack Abbott’s mystery revolves around Keemo Abbott
The Young and the Restless teased a mystery storyline for Jack, and now they’re dropping clues on what it could be. The plot started when a mystery person texted Jack to come to Los Angeles. With Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) help, they discover the messages were sent by Hao Nguyen, the father of Jack’s late wife, Luan Nguyen (Elizabeth Sung).
Keemo is Jack and Luan’s son and seems to be at the center of the storyline. It’s been 25 years since Keemo was last seen, and he might finally be returning to visit dear old dad.
Keemo Abbott’s history
In July 1994, The Young and the Restless introduced Jack’s son Keemo. Jack is unaware of Keemo’s existence until he’s reunited with Luan. Luan and Jack were lovers while he was a soldier in Vietnam; however, the war tore the couple apart. Jack and Luan are later reunited with Keemo, who resents his parents for abandoning him, but later forgives them.
Keemo begins a relationship with his dad’s ex-fiancée Mari Jo Mason (Diana Barton). However, he breaks up with her after learning she hired a prostitute to seduce him. Jack and Luan marry, but their union is short-lived when Luan dies from a terminal illness.
Keemo was upset that Jack kept Luan’s illness a secret but eventually forgave his father. After Luan’s death, Keemo returned to Vietnam in April 1996. The last mention of the character came when he sent Jack a fax warning him about Mari Jo.
Fan reaction to the character’s possible return
It’s unclear what role Keemo will play in Jack’s storyline. But his possible return to The Young and the Restless is generating a lot of attention. Fans have always been perplexed why Jack never mentions Keemo or the character was never seen again. Rumors circulated that Bergman wasn’t a fan of the Keemo storyline, and the writers tried to forget that part of Jack’s history.
However, it appears Jack’s eldest son may be headed back to Genoa City. On Twitter, fans voiced their excitement on Keemo’s return. “I’d like to see Keemo again. It’s been way too long since Jack’s first son has been onscreen,” wrote one viewer. “It’s about time that Keemo resurfaced – especially since Jack is all about family! He’s always been ‘Kyle this/Kyle that’! He hasn’t even mentioned his other son in years, not like Jack,” another commenter replied.
