‘The Young and the Restless’: Lauren and Michael’s Marriage in Trouble

While they’ve had their issues, everything seems fine in their marriage. However, the two may be headed for more trouble thanks to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

Lauren and Michael were looking forward to a new chapter on The Young and the Restless. On the Jan. 10 episode, Michael made a huge decision to retire from the DA’s office. Michael is Genoa City’s most-trusted attorney, but it was time to hang up the briefcase after years in the business.
Lauren supported her husband’s decision, and Michael promised they’d be spending more time together. However, Michael’s retirement didn’t last long. Michael received a job offer from Victor, and as previewed by Soaps.com, Lauren is concerned about her husband’s new assignment. Lauren has every right to be concerned, especially if the job interferes with her marriage.
Trouble looming in the couple’s marriage
Michael’s new job involved investigating Victor’s son-in-law Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi). Victor is worried about Ashland’s influence on Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and enlists Michael to spy on Ashland. Michael’s search paid off big time as he uncovers information that Ashland might be faking his illness.
Michael’s work will undoubtedly change the Newman family dynamic, but they’re not the only The Young and the Restless clan who’ll be affected. As Michael becomes focused on his task, he will neglect Lauren. The fashion designer will be upset by her husband’s actions.
She thought they’d be spending more time together during his retirement. Yet, Michael’s primary concern is answering Victor’s beck and call. Before long, tension will grow in the Baldwin household, and the couple’s marriage might not survive.
Headed for divorce?
The Young and the Restless fans are concerned about Lauren and Michael’s marriage. Viewers know that things don’t go well anytime someone gets involved with Victor. Michael is putting his marriage on the line to do Victor’s dirty work, and it’ll be a decision he regrets.
The last time Lauren and Michael had marital problems, she cheated on him with Carmine Basco (Marco Dapper). With Lauren no longer feeling the number one priority in Michael’s life, she may find comfort with another man. Of course, there’s her friend Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), who’ll give her a shoulder to lean on.
If Michael’s not careful, he may lose his wife because of his loyalty to Victor.
