Congratulations are in order for The Young and the Restless star Melissa Claire Egan. The actor is officially a mom after giving birth to a baby boy over the weekend. This is the first child for Egan and her husband, Matt Katrosar. Read on to learn more about Egan’s new bundle of joy.

Egan and Katrosar’s son Caden Robert made his arrival on Saturday, August 21st. According to People, Caden weighed 7lbs. and 7oz and measured 20 inches long. Egan and Katrosar were all smiles as they shared the first pictures of Caden from the hospital room.
This is undoubtedly an exciting time for the new parents, who are “overjoyed” by their son’s arrival. “Everyone is healthy and doing well; we’re so grateful for all the love and well wishes along our journey to get here. We’re awestruck by this little man and can’t believe he’s ours,” Egan told the magazine.

The birth of Caden is a happy occasion for Egan, who’s been open about the challenges in her journey to motherhood. Egan’s shared her difficulties with fertility issues and the heartbreak of miscarriage. In an Instagram post, Egan explained how the journey was filled with “lots of tears, stress, sadness, helplessness, hopelessness, and 2 miscarriages.”
When Egan announced her pregnancy in April, she received well-wishes from fans and The Young and the Restless family. Egan showed photos of her growing baby bump throughout the pregnancy and received pampering from her co-workers, who threw her a baby shower in June. As her due date drew nearer, Egan joked that she hoped childbirth would go smoother than it did for her The Young and the Restless character. “So this was a breeze compared to that,” Egan explained about Caden’s birth.

With Egan on maternity leave, fans won’t be seeing her The Young and the Restless character Chelsea Lawson for a while. Before Egan’s exit, Chelsea was involved in a huge storyline, seeing her revert to her bad-girl ways. Currently, the character is out of town visiting her mother.
However, when Chelsea returns, she’ll be in for a shock. Chelsea was worried about Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) taking Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). But Chelsea will have a new enemy with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), who’s not long stealing Chelsea’s man but also her job.
