‘The Young and the Restless’: Michelle Stafford Says Phick Breakup Scenes Are ‘Fun to Play’
The Young and the Restless has created plenty of famous love stories over the decades. Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) are one couple who generates a lot of buzz. Currently, the pair’s relationship is in turmoil as they contemplate splitting again. For Stafford, the impending breakup scenes will be a treat.

As Genoa City’s resident trouble-making redhead, Stafford has performed many dramatic scenes. Most of Phyllis’ anguish is due to her turbulent love life, including her on-again, off-again relationship with Nick. Although most actors dread the inevitable breakup scenes, it’s no problem for Stafford.
In an interview with TV Source Magazine, Stafford says those types of scenes are her favorite. “Breakups are really fun to play – the hurt and the angst. I know Josh, and I love to play the breakup and the hurt and pain. Playing two people in love, you have to really play that up in order to get the real payoff when you break up.”
Phyllis Summers and Nick Newman headed for another split
Phick have broken up plenty of times during their 16-year love affair on The Young and the Restless. Their marriage ended when Nick realized he was still in love with his ex-wife Sharon Newman (Sharon Case). Although Nick and Phyllis split, they’ve had several reunions in recent years.
However, the couple may once again be on the outs. The couple’s latest issues revolve around Nick shutting Phyllis out as he deals with the Newman family drama. Both Phyllis and Nick realize their problems, and although he wants to work things out, she seems over it. Phyllis tells Nick she wants more than sex and video games in an emotional scene before saying she’s “done.”
Goodbye Phick, hello Phack
Stafford showed off her chops in Phick’s recent breakup scenes. Although she’s hurting right now, Phyllis will soon find happiness with another man. The Young and the Restless writers hint at a reunion with Phyllis and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).
The exes remain on friendly terms, and Jack recently stunned Phyllis with his admission of still being in love with her. Jack’s trying to keep his distance from Phyllis, yet he’s become a should for her to cry on. Although Phyllis is resisting her feelings, it’s only a matter of time before she realizes she loves Jack. So it seems it’s goodbye Nick, and hello Jack.
