These Two ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Husbands Have an Ex in Common
Bravo TV’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills rarely sees a dull moment. The show brought in cast member Denise Richards last year on season 9, who has been a welcomed addition to the reality series. Turns out Richards’ new husband, Aaron Phypers, has something in common with Harry Hamlin, husband of Lisa Rinna.
1991-1992
Hamlin, who wed Rinna in 1997, was at a career high in the late 80s and early 90s. Starring in the hit NBC drama L.A. Law from 1986 to 1991, and being name People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 1987, Hamlin married actress Nicollette Sheridan in 1991. Sheridan left Hamlin just 11 months later, rumored to be involved with singer Michael Bolton.
Sheridan is best-known for her role as Edie Britt on ABC’s hit show Desperate Housewives, which inspired Bravo TV’s Real Housewives franchise, according to People.
2019: Twitter war
Bravo TV reported that during an episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in February, Rinna discussed Hamlin’s marriage to Sheridan, saying that Sheridan left Hamlin for Bolton. “I thank Michael Bolton to this day, are you kidding me?” Rinna told her cast mates during the episode. “Let’s cheers Michael Bolton.”
Rinna’s recollection of the split did not sit well with Sheridan, who tweeted, “FAKE NEWS! Harry and I ended our marriage nose to nose in Canada… Michael was a long time friend that was invited to our wedding… Happy Harry found happiness with housewife.”
Hamlin decided to voice his side of events, posting on Twitter, “Re Fake News! What’s it called when your wife of one year suddenly goes to bed with a pop singer? … two weeks after your mother dies?? I did a lotta stuff with my wife ‘nose to nose’ but ending our marriage was not one of them!”
And, you guessed it, this prompted a reply from Sheridan, tweeting, “Do you really want the truth shared? I appreciate that you want to support your housewife’s FAKE NEWS narrative, but the end of our marriage had nothing to do with anyone other than us. Sad you still can’t own your part. @HarryRHamlin @lisarinna”
Spatting with Sheridan aside, Rinna and Hamlin have been married for over two decades and seem to have a strong relationship. Hamlin shared with Andy Cohen on a 2016 episode of Watch What Happens Live how he met the reality star. “Lisa was working in an eyeglass store in 1992, and she was closing up one night and I was having dinner with the owner of the store,” Hamlin said, according to Bustle. “She came in to give him the keys and that’s how we first actually met and talked.”
2015-2018
Starting on the reality show for its ninth season earlier this year, Richards had just recently married Aaron Phypers in September 2018 after a whirlwind engagement. Some common ground between Phypers and Hamlin was having the same ex-wife – Sheridan.
Sheridan had first been spotted with Phypers in December 2014, according to People. The two secretly tied the knot in December 2015, but the couple separated the following June with Sheridan filing divorce papers just one month later. Their divorce was finalized in August 2018, one month before Phypers wed Richards.
Phypers and Sheridan had no children together, and neither received spousal support, as reported by People. Richards has two daughters – Sam, 14, and Lola, 13 – from her marriage to ex-husband Charlie Sheen. The actress also has an adopted daughter, Eloise.
