It’s no secret that Taylor Swift writes a lot of songs about her life. She rose to fame in the 2000s as a young girl who sang songs about her crushes and teenage experiences. Of course, many songs that Swift wrote are meaningful for her. However, there is one particular song that might be extremely special for Swift at the moment because of what she is currently going through.

Taylor Swift’s song ‘The Best Day’ was written about her mother

Swift’s song “The Best Day” was released as a part of her second album in 2008. It was written about her mother, Andrea, and Swift’s memories of their relationship growing up.

“‘The Best Day’ is a song that I wrote without telling my mom,” Swift once shared. “I wrote it in the summertime, and I recorded it secretly, too. I had this idea that I wanted to play it for her for Christmas. So, when I got the track I synced up all of these home videos from when I was a little kid to go along with the song like a music video, and played it for her on Christmas Eve and she was crying her eyes out.”

Taylor Swift’s mother has been diagnosed with a brain tumor

In 2015, Swift shared with fans that her mother had been diagnosed with cancer after getting a screening. She decided to keep a lot of the details private, but it was later revealed that the diagnosis was breast cancer.

Recently, Swift opened up about her mother’s condition again to reveal that, while Andrea was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, doctors found that she had a brain tumor.

“The symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before,” Swift told Variety. “So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.”

This is also one of the reasons why Swift decided to perform at festivals to promote her new album, Lover, instead of having a stadium tour as she would normally do. Since Swift’s family is still struggling to understand what is going on with Andrea’s cancer treatment, Swift does not want to make a commitment to have a huge tour.

She shared with Variety: “I feel like I haven’t done festivals, really, since early in my career—they’re fun and bring people together in a really cool way. But I also wanted to be able to work as much as I can handle right now, with everything that’s going on at home. And I wanted to figure out a way that I could do both those things.”

Taylor Swift has a very special relationship with her mother

It’s clear that Swift has a close bond with her mother. After all, her mother has been one of her biggest supporters since day one. Andrea and Swift’s father played very important roles in Swift’s success. They moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to give their daughter opportunity, and they also allowed her to take many guitar and songwriting lessons. Additionally, Andrea did a lot of marketing work early on to help Swift stand out from everyone else.

As such, there’s no downplaying how influential Swift’s mother has been in her life. Swift told Variety: “Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom. But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first.”

Because of everything that Swift and Andrea are going through right now, it makes sense that Swift’s song “The Best Day” now holds all sorts of important meaning for the mother-daughter pair.
