This Is How Much the ‘90 Day Fiancé’ Couples Are Paid to Be on the Show
90 Day Fiancé is back for its sixth season, and fans are ready for another wild ride. The show chronicles the lives of six engaged couples, all consisting of one American and one person from another country who’s in the U.S. on a 90-day fiancé visa. The couple must either marry before the end of the 90 days, or the non-U.S. citizen must return home.
The show has been a huge hit for TLC and spawned several spinoffs, like 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After and 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. But fans still have questions, like how much each couple is paid to appear on the show.
The 90 Day Fiancé cast salaries
Appearing on 90 Day Fiancé might turn people into minor celebrities, but the show alone doesn’t make them rich, at least according to insider reports.
Nikki Cooper, a friend of one of the couples on Season 5, claimed on Facebook that couples get $1,000 per episode and $2,500 to appear in the tell-all. If those numbers are correct, people are earning about $15,000 per season of the show. And technically, it may be that only the American half of the couple is getting paid, since the non-citizen doesn’t yet have the right to work in the U.S.
Cooper also complained that the 90 Day Fiancé crew is stingy. Though she and her husband Chris Thieneman, weren’t the stars of the show, their home was used as a filming location. But the production company only offered $100 to cover the costs of cleaning after the crew tracked dirt through the house, according to In Touch.
Other ways the 90 Day Fiancé stars make money
While the exact salaries people earn for 90 Day Fiancé aren’t clear, we do know that most people who appear on the show are looking for other ways to make money.
Jon Walters, who appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days has a profile on Cameo. For $30, he’ll send you a personalized video message. Anfisa Arkhipchenko from season 4 has a YouTube channel with more than 300,000 subscribers. Her husband, Jorge Nava, tried a less-legal way of making money: selling drugs. He was sentenced to 2½ years in prison after being caught with almost 300 pounds of marijuana.
Paola Mayfield from Season 1 is a model. Molly Hopkins – who also starred on the show Double Divas — is trying to build a music career. David Toborowsky struggled to find a job on the most recent season of 90 Day Fiancé, but he’s reportedly received a job offer in Asia.
The income requirements to be on the show
On 90 Day Fiancé the foreign half of each couple is in the U.S. on a K-1 fiancé visa. To get a K-1 visa, the sponsor must prove that they’re able to support their partner. That means having a household income that is at least 125% of the federal poverty level or a minimum amount of cash assets. This requirement was a problem for Season 4 couple Nicole and Azan, when she discovered she didn’t make enough money to sponsor him for his visa.
