‘This Is Us’ Cast Teases Reunion Movie but One Main Character May Not Return
Just days after wrapping the sixth and final season of This Is Us, several cast members have teased they would film a reunion movie. Subsequently, the cast believes some time has to pass before NBC tells more of the family’s heartfelt story. However, viewers can count one main character out who likely wouldn’t be included in a movie revealing the future of the Pearson clan.
How much story remains for ‘This Is Us?’
Fans will enjoy three more installments of the NBC family drama before the series signs off for the last time.
Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin Pearson, confirmed to Rotten Tomatoes that although the series is winding down, don’t count out the writer’s ability to ensure that viewers are satisfied with the series’ end.
“The whole Rebecca (Mandy Moore) storyline goes on through the rest of the season,” the actor shared.
“We have a lot to do. I mean, a lot gets accomplished. A lot of story gets told. Yeah, we have a lot. Did I mention that we have a lot?” he teased.
The 16th episode is titled “Family Meeting.”
In the trailer, viewers hear Randall (Sterling K. Brown) saying, “Our mother was magic. We need to pay her back for everything she did.” The episode follows Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Rebecca’s relationship now that Kate is in charge of her mother’s care after Miguel’s (Jon Huertas) death.
The remaining two episodes of This Is Us are titled “The Train” and “Us.”

In an interview for E! News, the cast spoke of the possibility of a reunion movie where they revisited the story of the Pearson family.
Moore said she would be “game” to do a reunion movie.
“We were laughing the other day with some of the cast, like, all these shows that are getting rebooted, didn’t they end five, six, seven years ago? Are we going to be doing a This Is Us reboot in six years? I would be game to do anything that would reunite me with everybody here,” she teased.
Chris Sullivan, who plays Toby, said, “Of course, I would be on board. I’m always on board for the This Is Us family. I don’t know if it will happen, but that sounds like a great idea.”
Also agreeing with the idea was Brown. “We totally could. And that’s something. I could see them promoting it. Like, we’ve seen the Sex and the City joints. There’s an Entourage joint. If they can do it, why the hell not?”
However, one key This Is Us character has likely taken their final bow and wouldn’t appear in any further series installments.
Jack Pearson, the family’s patriarch, likely wouldn’t be involved in any future films, said Milo Ventimiglia.
“I don’t know if it will involve Jack because, by the time they usually get to movies, you know, years have passed. I don’t know if Jack’s storylines will hold or carry through. However, you can tell a Kevin-Randall-Kate story. You can absolutely tell present-day stuff.”
Will Jack Pearson be included in ‘This Is Us’ final scenes?
While the series has not confirmed the characters, including Jack Pearson, that may be featured in the final scenes of the NBC family drama, Chris Geere, who plays Phillip, teased otherwise.
In an interview for NBC Insider ahead of the final days of filming, Geere leaked a critical detail about the last episode of the series aptly titled “Us.”
“We just got our schedule for the end, and the last day will be everyone in the last scene,” the actor revealed.
