This Is Us Season 5 opened with a premiere full of current news references and controversial topics. Randall (Sterling K. Brown), Kate (Chrissy Metz), and Kevin (Justin Hartley) all donned masks and talked about quarantine and the effects of COVID-19 on their daily life. Many fans were not thrilled to see the coronavirus pandemic present in their beloved show. Viewers want to dive back into their favorite characters’ storylines, beginning with Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Miguel (Jon Huertas). Thankfully, the producers have a plan for when fans will find out the couple’s backstory.

‘This Is Us’: Here’s what we know about Rebecca and Miguel’s relationship so far

When This Is Us premiered in 2016, fans met Jack Pearson’s (Milo Ventimiglia) best friend, Miguel. The two became very close over the years, and Jack consoled Miguel after his separation from his wife, Shelly. The Pearson family even invited Miguel over for Thanksgiving to be surrounded by people who love him for this first holiday since his divorce.

However, in the present day, the Pearson siblings are not very kind to Miguel. Randall judges the way he takes care of Rebecca and often puts him down. However, throughout it all, Miguel and Rebecca’s relationship remains strong. 

Fans know that Rebecca and Miguel reconnected via Facebook, years after Jack’s death. However, we have no idea how he came to marry Rebecca. 

Fans want to know more details about Rebecca and Miguel’s love story

“Miguel and Rebecca need an episode like right freakin’ now,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “We need to see how they met, how they drifted apart after Jack died, finding each other again on Facebook, dating, falling in love, getting married and Kevin, Kate and Randall’s (mostly Kevin) reactions to all of it.”

There is a lot of information that viewers do not know about this couple. The show delves into Jack and Rebecca’s relationship with almost every episode. However, fans want to see more of Miguel and Rebecca and how they fell in love.

“Jack is the core of this show, and the way both Rebecca and Miguel were closest to him,” another fan added. “I really want to see how their relationship wrapped around memories of Jack and how they dealt with it or grew around it.”

There is a lot that fans are assuming about Rebecca and Miguel. They hope that season 5 is the one that unearths their love story.

Creator Dan Fogelman hinted that season 5 would include Rebecca and Miguel’s love story

Viewers have been begging for more back story about Miguel for years, and they are finally going to get what they were asking for. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, This Is Us’ creator, Dan Fogelman, said that fans would finally see more of Miguel and Rebecca in season 5.

That will include a deeper look into Rebecca and Miguel’s relationship throughout the decades.”

Thankfully, the episode is coming soon. This Is Us returns on Nov. 10, 2020.
