‘This Is Us’: Will Kevin End Up With Madison? Fans Are Itching to Know Who Kevin Will Marry in Season 5
This Is Us fans are hoping the season 5 finale will finally reveal whether Kevin (Justin Hartley) will marry Madison (Caitlin Thompson). But now, it seems like both parties are getting cold feed. So will Kevin actually end up with Madison, rekindle his romance with Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge), or even start something with someone new? A This Is Us executive producer teased Kevin’s future ahead of season 5 episode 16 — here’s what we know.

After Madison gave birth to the twins, Nicholas and Frances, in This Is Us Season 5, Kevin finally realized how much he wanted to be all in. He even re-proposed, confirming his commitment to Madison. But in episode 15, both parties seemed to rethink the relationship.
Before Kevin’s bachelor party, Sophie reached out to congratulate her ex-husband on his new marriage. Then after watching Jerry Macguire at the gathering, Nicky (Griffin Dunne) suggested that Kevin was only marrying Madison out of obligation. Both moments seemed to confuse Kevin, particularly because Sophie was supposed to be Kevin’s love story for the ages.
Nevertheless, Miguel (Jon Huertas) seemingly calmed Kevin down. Miguel opened up about his relationship with Rebecca (Mandy Moore), noting they weren’t written in the stars like Rebecca and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia). But that was OK.
“There are some love stories that are written in the stars,” Miguel said. “But there are other love stories — they’re written together. Two people, the universe had no plans for, writing their story in the stars together.”
In the end, Kevin decided to delete Sophie’s phone number. Meanwhile, Madison finally told Kate (Chrissy Metz) she was in love with Kevin. But then Madison re-watched a clip of Kevin filmed for a bachelorette game. In the video, Kevin was asked to describe Madison’s dream future together. Kevin lingered on the question before claiming he refused to grow old. However, the moment of hesitation seemed to bother Madison.
‘This Is Us’ EP hints Kevin could end up with Madison or Sophie
When speaking with Entertainment Weekly, This Is Us executive producer Isaac Aptaker reflected on Kevin’s relationship with Sophie and Madison. But ultimately, it seems like Kevin is “confused” and could end up with either one at this point.
“Sophie is someone that he grew up with,” Aptaker said. “She was this very traditional lifelong childhood love, the one he thought he was always going to be with. So whenever she comes into the mix, it’s really, really complicated for Kevin.”
The EP continued, “But he also has this incredibly powerful connection with Madison. They’re raising a family together. They’re living together day in and day out.”
That said, Aptaker reminded fans that Sophie and Kevin tried to make it work twice and failed both times.
“With Sophie, whenever they are together, it’s not always that easygoing,” Aptaker said. “There’s quite a lot of drama whenever Kevin and Sophie try to make a go of it, if you recall.”
Meanwhile, Aptaker suggested that Kevin tried to do the right thing by deleting Sophie’s number. However, the EP confirmed that Kevin does feel something toward Sophie.
“If he didn’t feel anything for Sophie and if there was no … pull there from talking to her, then he wouldn’t really feel the need to delete her number,” Aptaker said. “I think that’s another instance of Kevin trying really hard to do the right thing, but not fully trusting himself.”
Sterling K. Brown promises fans a wedding in ‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Episode 16
For now, This Is Us fans will have to wait and see what happens to Kevin, Madison, and Sophie in the future. But whatever happens next, Sterling K. Brown, who plays Randall, promised fans a wedding in the season 5 finale.
“There’s definitely a wedding,” Brown told HollywoodLife. “I don’t want anybody to be sort of taken off guard. There’s a wedding that is going to happen. People are getting married, so you can rest assured of that. I’m sure there’ll be other twists that [creator Dan Fogelman] sort of inserts into there.”
Then when speaking with PopSugar, Brown echoed his statement about the wedding in the This Is Us finale. He also hinted that it will be “emotional.”
“The wedding is happening. It’s real, and I’m excited for people to see that union,” Brown said. “There’s always something emotional happening. Even me, I’ve read the show and I’ve shot the show, and then it gets me.”
In all honesty, we’re worried because Brown didn’t specify which wedding fans will watch. As you may know, the finale will include Jack and Rebecca’s wedding. So will Kevin end up marrying Madison onscreen? We always expect the unexpected when it comes to This Is Us. So stay tuned.
