When Does ‘This Is Us’ Return With New Episodes? The Season 5 Episode 7 Release Date Is Finally Here
It’s been quite some time since This Is Us aired a new episode of season 5. The NBC drama left fans on a major cliffhanger about Kevin (Justin Hartley). But, for the past few weeks, the network has been releasing reruns. Now, the return of This Is Us Season 5 is just around the corner. So, here’s everything we know about episode 7.

After This Is Us Season 5 released a new episode on Jan. 12, NBC aired repeat episodes as the show underwent production delays related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“No new episode of #ThisIsUs tonight,” creator Dan Fogelman tweeted on Jan. 19. “Covid-related production delays in LA have forced us to delay a few weeks. But the next few are big ones, and we are close, so we hope you’ll hang in there with us. Sorry!”
Then on Feb. 2, Fogelman updated This Is Us fans on the status of season 5. The creator hinted that new episodes are expected to resume on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
“Okay #ThisIsUs devotees – fingers crossed tonight is our last repeat and we are back next week for a few episodes to [complete] our first half,” Fogelman wrote on Twitter. “Sorry for the unusual airing pattern. Simply a result of the late start due to Covid and the recent LA shutdown.”
Meanwhile, the official This Is Us Twitter account confirmed the release date for season 5 episode 7.
“Who’s dusting off their Pearson jerseys for our return? #ThisIsUs is back February 9 on @NBC,” the account wrote.
What we know about ‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Episode 7 and beyond
While This Is Us Season 5 Episode 7 was delayed for three weeks, it’s clear the new episode will be worth the wait. As Fogelman mentioned in his Jan. 19 tweet, the next few episodes will be “big ones.” The creator also reassured fans on Feb. 2.
“On the bright side they’ll be good,” Fogelman wrote on Twitter. “Thanks for hanging in there with us.”
Meanwhile, This Is Us fans have been itching to find out what happened to Kevin. In the sixth episode, the character was rushing to get back to LA after Madison (Caitlin Thompson) went into early labor. Then the promo trailer for “There” suggested that Kevin was involved in a car accident.
Of course, This Is Us viewers know Kevin will be just fine in episode 7. In season 3, he was spotted in the far-future with his twins. Viewers are also hoping to see Kevin and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) reconcile soon.
In This Is Us Season 5 Episode 6, Randall decided it was time to make amends with Kevin after learning more about his birth mother, Laurel (Jennifer C. Holmes). Then in an interview with Entertainment Weekly from January 2021, Brown teased what to expect from Kevin and Randall moving forward.
“Fairly soon, you’ll see them come together in a really lovely way,” Brown said.
