‘This Is Us’ timeline can make the show very difficult to film

In the pilot episode of This Is Us, fans were startled when they realized they were watching the Pearsons’ lives play out across various timelines. This non -linear timeline has made the series revolutionary in many aspects. However, it has also been challenging for the cast, crew, and viewers.

The series is also known to throw in brand-new timelines without warning which has had its own set of challenges. However, if you pay attention everything makes sense in the grand scheme of things.

Jon Huertas says this episode of ‘This Is Us’ was the most challenging of Season 5

With a major span of time that stretches at times to the 1950s during Jack’s childhood and into the future in 2034, This Is Us is always facing a series of challenges. However, Huertas who plays Miguel and who directed episode 509 “The Ride,” says this particular episode had its own set of challenges that the cast and crew had never faced before.

In the episode, we watch various members of the Pearson family drive home from the hospital with their newborns for the first time. “The episode was super challenging, but I think that’s going to make it better for me in the long run, because once COVID is gone and we’re back to having normal sets and operations, it will feel a lot easier. But I like being challenged,” Huertas told The Wrap.

It wasn’t simply COVID-19 restrictions and protocols as well as the sliding timelines that made “The Ride” a dozy.

“We had Mandy, who was 37 weeks pregnant,” the actor/director explained. “We had eight babies. Like, the youngest of babies. Not like a 1-year-old or a 2-year-old, like 1- to 3-month-olds is what we were working with. It was crazy. Then a lot of car work, shooting in and around cars. So it was super challenging, but the episode is so good.”
