The latest promo for This Is Us Season 6 has many viewers wondering what’s going on with Deja (Lyric Ross) and Malik (Asante Blackk). The new trailer for the Feb. 1 episode suggests the two lovebirds have something to hide, and some individuals are theorizing that it has something to do with their romantic weekend together. So is Deja pregnant on This Is Us? Here’s what fans think and what to expect from the storyline moving forward.

Why ‘This Is Us’ fans think Deja is pregnant with Malik’s baby in season 6
In This Is Us Season 6 Episode 2, “One Giant Leap,” Deja visits Malik in Boston, and the two have sex for the first time. Then in the next episode, Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) find out Deja lied to them about her whereabouts. So Randall forbids their daughter, who is a junior in high school, from seeing her college boyfriend anytime soon. However, Deja says that will be a problem.
Meanwhile, Beth reveals Malik wants to have dinner with the family in the promo trailer for This Is Us Season 6 Episode 5, “Heart and Soul.” At first, Randall is suspicious. Then when Malik and Deja look at each other during the dinner, Beth asks them what’s happening.
Of course, This Is Us fans will have to wait for Deja and Malik to reveal what’s on their mind in the next new episode. But anytime two characters sleep together, viewers know that pregnancy is a possible storyline. So some viewers are wondering whether Deja is pregnant.
Why fans don’t think Deja is pregnant in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6 Episode 5
Although many This Is Us fans are wondering whether Deja will have Malik’s baby, other viewers aren’t so certain about the storyline. On Instagram, a viewer brought up the theory. But in response, some fans brought up other options.
A few This Is Us fans wondered whether Deja and Malik are engaged or already married. One viewer also pointed out that Deja, who is pregnant in the future when she becomes a medical student, didn’t have a child with her when she visited Kevin’s (Justin Hartley) house in the season 5 flash-forward. Meanwhile, some fans on Reddit noted that it’d be too soon to tell if Deja’s pregnant.
“What do you think their big news is? It can’t be a pregnancy, because it’s too soon for them to even know if she was,” a This Is Us fan wrote on Reddit. “I’m thinking it’s got to be either Deja entering some early admittance type program there and moving to Boston, or Malik transferring to Penn or something and moving back to Philly.”
What happens next to Deja and Malik in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6?
Whatever Deja and Malik tell Beth and Randall in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 5, it’s bound to be a storyline to watch. That said, it seems like there will be plenty of conflict moving forward. When speaking with People on Jan. 18, writer David Windsor revealed that Malik will “continue to be a storyline between” Deja and Randall.
“[Malik’s] such a good kid. At the same time, [Randall’s] daughter is only a teenager and still in high school,” Windsor said. “So it sets up a really good dynamic and conflict for the two of them.”
Meanwhile, Eris Baker, who plays Tess, hinted that the Deja and Malik storyline will be worth the wait in This Is Us Season 6.
“When I was reading these scripts, and watching [Ross and Blackk], it really surprised me a lot,” Baker told Elite Daily. “They’re amazing, and the way that relationship like plays out, it’s just amazing.”
