NBC’s This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15 focuses on Miguel — and fans will see more interactions between Jack and Miguel than they’ve seen previously. With Jack dead and Miguel married to Rebecca, how does Jack really feel about Miguel and Rebecca’s romance? Here’s what Miguel actor Jon Huertas has to say.

What happened to Jack in ‘This Is Us’?

Rebecca and Jack were married before Rebecca and Miguel got together, and Miguel even met Rebecca thanks to JAck. Sadly, Jack died in a horrific accident, shocking the rest of the Pearson family. We don’t expect This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15 to revisit Jack’s death, but the episode will take fans back to when Miguel and Rebecca first started to get to know each other.

So, what happened to Jack in This Is Us? A faulty crockpot caused the Pearson family home to go up in flames. Jack woke up to his house burning, and he did his best to save his entire family. Not only did his family live through the fire, but Jack even returned to the house to save Kate’s dog.

While at the hospital, the doctors told Jack he inhaled a lot of smoke, but they claimed he miraculously only dealt with minor damage to his lungs. Unfortunately, the smoke inhalation affected Jack’s heart. He went into cardiac arrest and died.

Miguel wasn’t widely accepted into the Pearson family at first. He and Rebecca developed a close connection after Jack’s death, but Rebecca and Jack’s kids had their reservations about Miguel. Miguel’s kids also didn’t love Rebecca, as she came after Miguel’s divorce from Shelly.

So, how would Jack feel about Miguel and Rebecca’s marriage? According to Miguel actor Jon Huertas, he’d be extremely supportive of Rebecca moving on.

“If Miguel had been the one married and he had died and if Jack had been single, I think Miguel would want his wife to be with someone he already knew and trusted,” Huertas told TV Insider. “It’s better than to have Rebecca out there in the dating world. I love the fact that Rebecca and Miguel found each other. I do think Jack would be OK with it, too. We know that Miguel will always honor Jack — even in his and Rebecca’s relationship.”

‘This Is Us’ Star Jon Huertas Films ‘Bittersweet’ Last Scenes as Miguel, Will He Be at Rebecca’s Deathbed?

This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15 focuses on Miguel, so it’s doubtful Rebecca’s death will happen during the episode. But fans should anticipate Rebecca’s death by episode 17. The penultimate episode made Rebecca actor Mandy Moore throw up, which gives a clue as to what may happen to her character.

“The second to last script, I sent it to the cast, and it made Mandy throw up,” show creator Dan Fogelman said during the 2022 PaleyFest in Los Angeles, according to NBC Insider.

“It was beautiful [throw-up],” Moore added. “It was so beautiful and upsetting that that was my physical reaction.”

Kate actor Chrissy Metz also said she “couldn’t breathe” after reading the same script. It seems something serious is about to happen to the Pearson family — and it’s been foreshadowed that it has to do with Rebecca all season long.

This Is Us Season 6 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
