‘This Is Us’ Season 6 Episode 15 Preview: Miguel and Rebecca Reconnect After 8 Years Apart
This Is Us is pulling out all the stops for its final season, including a deep dive into Miguel’s backstory. Miguel has been through quite the journey over the show’s six seasons. He started as the most hated character on the show, but fans grew to love him and realize they never gave him a fair chance. Now, in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15, the audience will gain a new understanding of Miguel and his relationship with Rebecca.
‘This Is Us’ Season 6 Episode 15 tells the story of how Miguel and Rebecca got together
Zetna Fuentes directed This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15, “Miguel,” and Jonny Gomez wrote the pivotal hour. The episode’s synopsis reads, “Miguel over the years.” As always, This Is Us is very descriptive in its premises. But based on the preview for “Miguel,” the audience will finally get answers regarding how Miguel and Rebecca become romantically involved.
This Is Us Season 6 Episode 7 informed fans that the two started to develop feelings for one another in the late ’90s after Jack’s death. But the timing wasn’t right, and Miguel moved to Houston. And in season 2, we learned that the two friends reconnected in 2008 when Miguel messaged Rebecca on Facebook to congratulate her on the birth of her granddaughter, Tess.
Now, in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15, viewers will witness the official beginning of Miguel and Rebecca’s love story. In the trailer for the hour, Miguel tells Rebecca, presumably around 2008, “I’ve never felt at home. The first time I ever felt homesick in my life was when I left you on that porch.”
Fans will learn more about Miguel’s backstory
As seen in the This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15 preview, the hour will explore many turning points in Miguel’s life. And fans will even see who Miguel was before he met Jack.
The video shows Miguel as a young boy, and two other boys accompany him. Later in his life, he tells someone who might be his mother, “I’m just lost right now.” She comforts him by saying, “I know you will find someone to love again.”
The trailer then reveals flashes from the episode, including Miguel laying a blanket over Rebecca in what looks to be around 2026. Fans can also see Miguel with his ex-wife Shelly, Miguel when he’s a kid, and Miguel lying in a bed with Rebecca in the preview.
While This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15 will delve into Miguel’s roots, perhaps it will also reveal where he is in the flash-forward. After all, we are only four episodes away from the series finale, and it’s time for some answers.
Jon Huertas teases ‘This Is Us’ Season 6 Episode 15
During an interview with TV Insider, Jon Huertas, who plays Miguel, previewed This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15.
“I’m really happy about this episode because it’s diving deep into Miguel’s history,” the actor shared. “It’s going way back. There’s a lot of authenticity in this episode. The show allowed me to come into the writers’ room and help break the episode. I was able to share a lot of emotional footnotes in my life to help tell Miguel’s story.”
Huertas added, “We’ll definitely see Jack and a much younger Miguel [in episode 15]. He’ll be much younger. We’ll actually see Miguel before he met the Pearsons. We’re going to see a lot of Miguel’s family.”
And while speaking with People, Jon Huertas went into greater detail about what Miguel was feeling during the eight years he spent apart from Rebecca.
“I’ll tease a little bit that Miguel, after leaving, has that aching feeling in his gut for many years for Rebecca, and I think the same rings true for Rebecca,” Huertas said. “When you have that longing for, it’s just love. It’s true, and it’s almost like true love. I think people can experience many true loves. We can have multiple loves, multiple true loves. Rebecca and Miguel happen to be one of those true loves.”
This Is Us Season 6 Episode 15, “Miguel,” airs on Tuesday, May 3, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
