‘This Is Us’ Season 6: Fans Love This Sweet Detail Regarding Miguel at Kate’s Wedding
NBC’s This Is Us Season 6 Episode 13 featured Kate’s wedding to Phillip. The entire Pearson family attended, including Rebecca and her husband, Miguel. Miguel hasn’t had the easiest time blending in with the Pearson family. But fans noticed this sweet detail when it came time for Kate to walk down the aisle.

Rebecca’s second husband, Miguel, isn’t beloved by some members of the Pearson family
Miguel Rivas is Rebecca’s second husband, and he was best friends with Jack Pearson, Rebecca’s first husband. Kevin merely tolerates Miguel because he’s his mother’s second husband, but he doesn’t accept the man as part of the Pearson family. There’s a clear tension between Rebecca’s second husband and Kevin throughout the show and into This Is Us Season 6.
“I think the stepdad always has to really earn acceptance into a family — no matter whether it’s the Pearson family or any other family,” Miguel actor Jon Huertas told Country Living. “The kids have grown up with certain parents, and then that parent is gone, and they’re kind of asked to develop and give love to a new person from the outside. The stepfather always has that challenge of winning people’s trust.”
“[Kevin’s] entire life, he’s been kicking and screaming and fighting to get the approval of his mother,” Huertas continued. “He’s finally starting to get his feet underneath him as an actor and become very popular and famous publicly, but that’s not what he really wants. He wants that attention and love from his mother, and she’s giving it to someone else.”

Despite Kevin and Miguel’s tension in the past, some fans noticed a sweet detail in Kate’s wedding as featured on This Is Us Season 6 Episode 13. Some fans noticed Miguel escorted Kate down the aisle on her wedding day.
“Miguel escorted Kate to the altar?” a Reddit user noticed. “When the wedding started, I was wondering where Miguel was until I saw him back there with Kate. I instantly had tears in my eyes, and I love that they wrote it in!!”
“Yes, I thought about it too, especially after people were hypothesizing Randall and Kevin would walk her down,” another fan wrote. “I love this outcome, too.”
“I loved it,” yet another fan noted. “Miguel has had a hard time getting accepted into this family, and the fact that he walked Kate down the aisle was just such a sweet moment.”

This Is Us Season 6 Episode 13 shows Miguel taking blood pressure medication, and some fans think this could foreshadow his upcoming death by the season finale. During the wedding, Randall noticed Miguel’s hand was shaking. He also saw Miguel’s blood pressure pills. When Randall attempts to discuss Miguel’s health, Miguel makes it clear he doesn’t want to talk about it.
“Mom’s sick. Miguel is getting old,” Randall then tells Beth at the wedding reception. “I can see where it’s all headed now, and it’s all headed there so fast.”
It’s unclear exactly what will become of Rebecca’s second husband by the end of the season, but given these clues, we wouldn’t be surprised if Rebecca ends up a widow once more by the finale.
