If there’s one thing that This Is Us does best, it’s surprising its viewers. And it’s likely that the ending of the series in This Is Us Season 6 will blow everything else that they have done out of the water. Or, at least, we hope it will. As most fans are aware, creator Dan Fogelman has known how the show would end for years now. So we expect nothing short of greatness from the series finale. In the meantime, fans theorize the perfect ending to This Is Us.

Reddit fans imagine the perfect ending to ‘This Is Us’ in season 6

One This Is Us fan asked others on Reddit about their wish list for the ending in season 6. On their own wish list, they wrote, “Jack greets Rebecca in the afterlife.”

“My dream is that Jack greets Rebecca with a birthday cupcake and candle, welcoming her to the first birthday of their new life together (or she literally goes to heaven on her actual birthday),” a different Reddit user said. “A full circle moment.”

Another fan added, “This would honestly be the perfect ending, though.”

Since we know that Rebecca’s health is rapidly declining in the future, thanks to the This Is Us flash-forwards, she will likely die before the series ends in season 6. And we have to agree that Jack greeting Rebecca in the afterlife would be a perfect ending.

Will Rebecca die before ‘This Is Us’ Season 6 ends?

In the present timeline, Rebecca, played by Mandy Moore, has Alzheimer’s. And in the future timeline, the Pearson family, including Kevin, Randall, Beth, Toby, Nicky, Deja, Tess, and Annie, are gathering at Kevin’s home to see Rebecca, who appears to be dying. While it’s not confirmed that Rebecca will die before This Is Us ends in season 6, it’s very much implied.

Dan Fogelman told The Hollywood Reporter, “Mandy is going to have a tremendously ambitious season next year as an actress. As we’re traversing these timelines into the future and have a character battling Alzheimer’s, it’s going to be quite a showcase for [Moore], who I think is doing something extraordinary on television.”

We fully expect This Is Us Season 6 to be a career-defining moment for Moore, even if her character dies or lives in the end. And, hopefully, the actor will finally earn an Emmy Award for her staggering work in This Is Us.

Fans do not have to wait too long to find out what happens at the end of This Is Us because season 6 begins very early in 2022.

This Is Us Season 6 Episode 1 is called “The Challenger,” which is a callback to Kevin referencing the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in the pilot. The photos for the premiere depict the Big Three celebrating their 41st birthday, Phillip staring lovingly at Kate, and Jack and Rebecca embracing.

This Is Us Season 6 premieres on Jan. 4, 2022, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC, while the ending may air sometime in late May or early June.
