‘This Is Us’ Season 6: Where Fans Have Seen Cassidy Actor Jennifer Morrison Before
Fans of the NBC series This Is Us were shocked this season when Jennifer Morrison’s Cassidy returned in the final season’s episode 3. Since then, speculation has been circulating as to which of Kevin’s love interests he will end up with until This Is Us’ recent episode titled “The Night After the Wedding” seemed to secure his childhood love, Sophie, as his soulmate. Cassidy isn’t going anywhere, though, and looks to be in it for the long haul with Kevin as well, though as a friend rather than a love interest.
Who is Jennifer Morrison’s Cassidy in ‘This Is Us’?
First seen in This Is Us season 4, Cassidy Sharp is an ex-marine that meets Kevin at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. The pair forge a friendship, and they have a one-night stand during their journey to recovery.
Afterward, the pair seem to leave behind any designs for a romantic relationship, focusing on their friendship; however, This Is Us Season 6 saw Jennifer Morrison return in her role of Cassidy, leading viewers to wonder if there may still be a spark between her and Kevin.

According to IMDb, Morrison’s first on-screen role was playing Richard Gere and Sharon Stone’s daughter in 1994’s Intersection. However, her breakout role came as Dr. Allison Cameron on House M. D. After eight years on the show, she then went on to play Zoey on How I Met Your Mother.
Then, in 2011, she began her leading role as Emma Swan in ABC’s Once Upon a Time. Since then, she starred alongside Margot Robbie, Charlize Theron, and Nicole Kidman in 2019’s Bombshell before joining the cast of This Is Us.
Is there a future for Kevin and Cassidy?
Throughout her time on the show, Cassidy has struggled deeply with her own problems, including PTSD, insomnia, and alcoholism. She is straightforward and brutally honest with Kevin, as seen in This Is Us Season 6, Episode 5, when Kevin tries to rekindle their romance, and she immediately shuts him down.
Morrison points out in her interview with People that Cassidy and Kevin are not really over, though, and her rejection of him was actually an attempt to further their relationship. “[Cassidy’s] not interested in there being an end,” Morrison says, “she’s interested in there being a continuation. If that continuation means just being friends, she’d rather be friends than have an end.”
As a result of her unrestrained honesty with Kevin, their bond is unlike that of the other women in his life. As This Is Us writer Casey Johnson tells People, “We always feel like there’s a real similarity between Kevin and Cassidy. The details of their lives are very, very different, but they really understand each other …”
Furthermore, Cassidy is a character that supports the good choices Kevin makes, and that would likely include his reunion with Sophie. Despite This Is Us Season 6 being the show’s last season, if Kevin’s story were to continue in any way, Cassidy would likely still play a major role in his life with her as a constant friend and, hopefully, see Cassidy’s character as a healthier version of herself.
