It’s possible you’ve seen Calloway before she joined the This Is Us cast to play Edie in season 6. The actor is known for her roles in Coming to America, What’s Love Got to Do With It, Daylight, and Inkwell. She’s also appeared in shows like Days of Our Lives, All My Children, Rhythm & Blues, Hawthorne, Grey’s Anatomy, and Shameless.
‘This Is Us’ Season 6 reveals Nicky is married and Edie is his wife in a future flash-forward scene
In This Is Us Season 6 Episode 2, “One Giant Leap,” Nicky seeks out his first love, Sally (Dey Young) in California, with a little help from Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Miguel (Jon Huertas). Many fans have been hoping that Nicky and Sally are married in the future. But the new episode on Jan. 11 simply closed the chapter on the couple.
In “One Giant Leap,” Nicky finds Sally in the present day timeline, and he discovers that she’s married to someone named Eric. At first, Nicky looks like he wants to run. But in the end, he admits that he doesn’t regret loving Sally for so long, revealing that it gave him something to look forward to. Then he kisses Sally on the cheek before leaving her for good.
Meanwhile, Nicky tells Rebecca and Nicky that he wants to go back home to help Kevin (Justin Hartley) with the new cabin, which will begin construction soon. Then on the flight back, Nicky meets Edie, who is a flight attendant. She asks him to put his seat up, and Nicky starts to flirt.
In the final moments of This Is Us Season 6 Episode 2, Edie shows up in a white car during a future flash-forward scene at Kevin’s cabin home. She asks Randall (Sterling K. Brown) how Rebecca is doing, and she hugs adult Deja (La Trice Harper). And ultimately, it’s clear that Edie eventually wins over the Pearsons. Then This Is Us confirms Edie and Nicky end up together as they share a kiss.
What’s next for Nicky and Edie in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6
Following the new episode of This Is Us Season 6 on Jan. 11, creator Dan Fogelman confirmed that Edie and Nicky are married in the future, per Deadline. He also revealed what to expect from Calloway’s character moving forward.
“Early in the season, she has this great stuff, and you get to see what Nicky is like in a relationship,” Fogelman said of Edie. “It’s really fun, it’s really exciting, and it’s just such a great color in the character.”
The series creator continued, “Here’s this guy, and he had a story, and we had started already telling the ending of his story, in terms of what becomes of him and what he does with his life, and what he does with his romantic life, and it’s just really fulfilling and really rewarding to see him. My hope is that the whole end of the series can feel a little bit like that, as well.”
