‘This Is Us’: What Will the Cast Do Next? Here’s Where to Watch the Pearsons Post-Series Finale
2022 will mark the end of an era. This Is Us Season 6 will be the last, and production has already begun. While fans await the highly-anticipated final chapter of the Pearson saga, here’s what’s up next for the show’s stars to fill the inevitable void.
Milo Ventimiglia reunites with an old friend
After playing Papa Bear Jack Pearson for five seasons (and one on the way), Ventimiglia returns to an old friend for his next project. Amy Sherman-Palladino, who directed Ventimiglia on Gilmore Girls, has already cast the star for a guest spot on the Amazon series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
“You have to see it in context because it’s actually a very different thing we’re doing with him,” Dan Palladino said via Us Weekly. “We needed someone of his caliber and his handsomeness, so we asked Milo to do it. But you have to see it in the context.”
Mandy Moore’s post ‘This Is Us’ project is a mystery
It’s not yet known what Mandy Moore will do once her role as matriarch Rebecca Pearson concludes. So far, the actor is busy with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith. The two just welcomed their first child, August Harrison Goldsmith, in May.
She did tease a photo of her and Ventimiglia on Instagram with the caption: “Mom and Dad. Day 1, season 6 in the can. Here we go…. #thisisus,” and fans everywhere collectively swooned.
Justin Hartley has a lot on tap
Perhaps one of the busier Pearson members is that of Hartley. Mimicking Kevin Pearson‘s rising acting career, Hartley has a few things lined up post-season 6 finale. The actor will executive produce and star in Jeffrey Deaver’s novel adaptation via CBS’ The Never Game. He’ll be joined by This Is Us EP Kevin Olin.
“I couldn’t be happier that The Never Game is coming to CBS and that Colter Shaw will be brought to life on screen soon,” Hartley said (Us Weekly). “When I read the book, I was immediately drawn to the character and the story; developing this project with Ken has been a true labor of love. Colter is going to kick some serious ass, and I can’t wait for audiences to meet him.”
He’ll also take on a film adaptation of the 2017 novel, The Noel Diary, Senior Year, A Lot of Nothing, and Injustice: Gods Among Us! the Movie, where he’ll play Superman. For now, we can’t wait to see what becomes of Kevin’s love life when This Is Us returns.
Sterling K. Brown aims for the big screen
Though we’ll miss Randall Pearson the most (sorry), Brown has other things on the horizon. Honk For Jesus, Save Your Soul — which also stars Regina King — is filming now. Also noted on Brown’s IMDb page is Biosphere, which is in post-production.
Chrissy Metz’s music will take center stage
Though Metz has already been busy with music while also voicing the character Mei Mei on Kung Fu Panda: The Voice of Destiny, our own Kate Pearson will also star in the film, Stay Awake as Michelle. It’s slated for a 2022 release.
“I would love my music to be in TV shows and film,” revealed to Us Weekly. “I could never give up acting. Do I want to just focus on a tour? That would be awesome. That would be ideal. I would love to just go on tour and really have that experience full-on.”
What about the other ‘This Is Us’ cast members?
As for the other This Is Us players, Susan Kelechi Watson (who plays Beth Pearson) has Ada Twist, Scientist in post-production. Caitlyn Thompson (who plays Madison Simmons) completed the TV movie, Under the Bridge, which will air sometime in 2022.
Jon Huertas (Miguel Rivas) is rumored to be a part of The Last Transport. At the same time, Ron Cephas Jones (William Hill), Chris Sullivan (Toby Damon), and newcomer Chris Geere (Phillip) have nothing publically announced just yet.
This Is Us Season 6 returns in 2022.
