This Theory About Miranda Lambert Rushing Into Marriage with Brendan McLoughlin Makes So Much Sense
Miranda Lambert’s fans were more than a little perplexed when she announced a surprise wedding to NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin. The Pistol Annies singer hadn’t even let on that she was in a serious relationship before that point, and after being burned in a bitter divorce from Blake Shelton, no one expected her to marry again so quickly.
But to hear Lambert tell it, her prior relationship failings were the exact reason why she raced down the aisle with McLoughlin. “I feel like I’ve been through enough in my life to know what I don’t want, so when I know what I do want I snatch it right up,” Lambert said during an interview with People.
That could be true. However, some fans have a different theory about why Lambert rushed into her second marriage.
Lambert keeps proving she’s not over Blake Shelton
Even though they’ve been divorced since 2015, Lambert is still showing signs of unresolved feelings for her ex-husband, Blake Shelton. That doesn’t necessarily mean she’s still in love with him. But there’s a strong possibility she still harbors strong opinions toward him.
As an example, Lambert refused to stand and clap during Shelton’s CMA Awards performance in 2019. “Everyone stood up to clap for Blake at the end of his performance except Miranda Lambert and her husband,” a source told Us Weekly. “At the commercial break, they both left their seats.”

It’s clear that Miranda Lambert still feels a certain way about Blake Shelton, even if that feeling is negative. Could that be why she rushed into her second marriage?
This theory makes a whole lot of sense. Now that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are getting serious, with wedding bells in their near future, Lambert might have wanted to get remarried first to prove how well she’d moved on.
Knowingly or not, Lambert essentially “won” the battle over who would make a serious life commitment first.
Blake Shelton does not care who got married first
Married or not, Shelton is very publicly committed to girlfriend Gwen Stefani. The two met on the set of The Voice and have been going strong since 2015, when they bonded over divorce drama (he from Lambert, and she from rocker Gavin Rossdale). And as for the small detail about his ex-wife getting remarried? Apparently, Shelton has no opinion on the matter.
Sources close to Shelton say the singer moved on completely. “He put Miranda in his rear view mirror long ago. Miranda brings nothing positive to his life. Their marriage ended and he moved on. Ever since, he is grateful every day.” The source went on to say, “Blake is crazy about Gwen, and all he sees are hearts in his eyes every day.”
This saga isn’t over yet
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are ancient history now. But that doesn’t stop fans from wondering if these two can ever rekindle a relationship and maybe become friends in the future. After all, they were once country music’s “it couple” and are bound to keep running into each other at events.
It would be easier for everyone if they could all just get along!
